About how quick can you or has anyone ran with an r50 and maybe a CAI, cat back, maybe header or tuning. Or both. I'm looking for basic stuff here. No power times, no big cams or head work. Just want to know how far the basic stuff will take you.
About 16.8 seconds for a stock MC.
See

There isn't much to gain because the stock MC is already fairly well tuned.
Small changes-
Intake
cat back exhaust (likely loose some weight too)
Plugs/ wires
ECU tuning
Header- be careful which one- some only make more noise.
It can't hurt to loose weight.
Lighter rims
Volk CE28 15x5.5 rims are expensive but weigh 7.7 lbs each +45mm offset
You can put on 205/50-15 race tires. Wider 15x7 rims are heavier but then you can use 225/45-15 tires, offset +38mm.
Lighter than stock brakes (Wilwood) are also possible.
Rear seat delete
Front Race seat
It can't hurt to have really sticky tires-
Drag race tires
or at least Extreme Performance Summer tires like Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R
And practice doing the 1/4 mile enough to get really good at it.

thats too much effort and money to still get killed by an older civic with the same displacement... i dont really think i would waist my time tunning an R50 for 1/4's. maybe take it to the track once for a laugh, then hit up an autox on the way home to redeem yourself

Even the R53 or R56 isn't that good but at least a bit better than the R50.
The strength of any MINI is in handling. A curvy track course especially a short one is good and autocross is good, as in National Champion grade good (with the right wheels and tires).
I drive it everyday so I know. Believe me, I know. I was just curious thats all. Oh, and I know curiosity broke the cat's axle while drag racing so I'll prolly avoid the strip for both reasons.
