^Eeehhh, all of these kits seem a little shady to me. Kind of like "pipes don't quite fit right, this gasket dosen't seal, these bolts didn't fit" kind of kits.

I'd be a little more intrigued if it said HKS or Garrett or a name I've heard of. New for 2008, he's bought you turbo small blocks in the past and you've seen his diesel trucks, now Gale Banks unviels his latest project. A turbocharged 2003 Mini Cooper!

Its funny how people are still trying to market this kit. It was discontinued from the original manufacture in the UK a few years ago...

Gas mileage would drop because you're still adding more fuel and I'm sure timing would have to be altered due to pulling it as boost adds in.
The reason I am asking is because I'd like to know if there is a possibility of running regular gas in my Cooper (no turbo or supercharger) without lowering gas mileage or performance. Or is this an impossibility?

well..since we are on the topic of MC's..i kno the compression between the MC and MCS are different but does this mean you can't use MCS specific parts such as a CAI or exhaust with your MC? Don't wanna get flamed for asking but i was just looking into getting a mini and if i could make a regular mini a "sleeper" id rather do that than get an S.

the S has FI so it flows more air. For layout, as long as the exhaust will clear the spare tire an S exhaust will fit. Other than the larger diameter pipe necessary to flow the greater air flow from the S, it should work. Of course, as I mentioned, the S flows more air so an exhaust from an S would be a larger diameter than you'd need (maybe would want) for a non-s.

If you wanted to run an S exhaust...I dont know how that is a sleeper. But, you would have to get rid of the spare tire and weld in a new rear deck pan so the exhaust could fit under. Plus the hangers are needed to be fabbed up. Alot of work for an S exhaust when you can go with a custom 2.5" setup.

I would run this for S & G's. But...like I said before this is THE SAME KIT sold overseas that was discontinued. Same pic, parts, etc. Even the same part number...lol. Running the same small T-20 blow dryer. $2K for a 40-50HP gain is pretty expensive to me... . And that's all that thing will put out....if that maxing out 100%.

MC Cold Air conversion to MCS layout

I can't change to an S bonnet because our racing rules do not allow it. I want to take advantage of the local high pressure zone at the base of the windscreen to force cool air into a fabricated airbox whose top is sealed by the closed bonnet, with a short, smooth silicon hose to the throttle body inlet.

On an MC, the battery is in the way, of course, and I have moved the battery to the rear already.

What I would like to know is whether I must fabricate the cold air box myself, or whether one of the existing cold air boxes sold for MCS's will work.

Have you, or has anyone, actually tried that yet? Or heard of anyone who has done so?

Thanks for the help!!!

Stephen.

i would think that if you craming that much more air/fuel into the engine you would need head work to and the whole bit about the inter cooler missing really worries me i defently wouldn't do it but what about swapping for an s block i saw one on ebay that had 25,000 miles and then turbo charging it...?
