Good to hear!

I figured the dealer's answer would be something to ensure that they would get my order for JCW...

Hopfully I can get mine soon!

MCC CAI

I had the Way/DDM CAI installed at MITM last August by Way himself and love it. In fact he removed my aFe CAI. Drove through the Eisenhower Tunnel and all you could hear was our MCC. The aFe made more noise at low range RPM's.

I finished mine today. I was like a 12yo at Christmas when I came home and saw it. I ended up hacksawing the tube in the resonator box. You can't see it so who cares? Down low and at idle, its silent, but like everyone says, 3500 and up, it has a sweet thoaty-ness to it. And man does that thing help throttle response.

You say you love the sound of the Way/DDM CAI over the aFe CAI, but can you feel a difference in performance?

As hemiheaded says throttle response is much improved, the car starts to pull at around 3K rpm instead of 4500, plus it seems to take longer to get to bounce, from about 5500 rpm on up. Gas mileage also seems better on the highway, but does nothing for mpg in the twisties as it's just to much fun to make it growl

Just installed mine as well!

Pros: Awesome sound from 2500rpm and up, throaty bassy sound, makes throttle blipping on downshifts a lot more fun :D The car does rev easier! Nice heatshield. Not too much difference while cruising even at highway speeds of around 70mph (thank god, I would hate to have the car being too noisy)

Cons: a bit pricey for what you get (couple of hoses, filter and heatshield), installation is a bit of a PITA trying to remove the resonator box (ended up cutting the tube)

Just as a comparison, I had the Remus dual exhaust on the car, that exhaust system was pretty quiet, almost no difference from 3000rpm and up (good low end bass though from idle to 3k), the intake is easily 2-3X louder than the exhaust, awesome sound that makes you wanna rev! But the car does quiet down to stock level as long as you're not punching the gas pedal, so it's almost like dual personality, awesome stuff!

DDM works packaged the intake very well too, good job guys!

Glad your liking the performance. That was the most important thing to me when we were discussing the design and fitting it.
Removing the Resonator was my fault, it is hard if you haven't done it. But that is one of the keys to shortening the distance the air travels to get to the filter, no other Cooper intake does this. It can actually be done with a prybar. We went back and forth about removing it, but we knew performance would be better by removing it, and give us more room for the heat sheild.

All intakes are overpriced and this one is no exception. If you had access to a pipe bender and welding machine you can make it for $20. You are paying for labor and design.

It took a while but I got mine to pry off. Takes some time and patience, you don't want to jack up any A/C lines. I didn't want to hack off the tube just incase I went back to stock. It sounds great but may get annoying after a while. I didn't see any noticeable power gains compared to stock. Maybe some dyno sheets of the increased 6whp would help.

I recently replaced the red foam filter with a K&N filter on mine. The foam filter got dirty too quick. I like the look of the K&N better.

Other good options are:

-BMC CDA (good price for an amazing increase in HP)
-Pipercross Viper (expensive, but is also provides a good hp gain)
-aFe (open intake with heatshield, also provides good gains, but not as high as the closed carbon intakes)
-Raid Max HP (low price for a carbon intake)

Pictures:

This guy gained a lot of power with his K&N Typhoon with custom heatshield.
Now he also installed a BMC CDA, and he gained again.
This shows how good the BMC CDA is.

His setup with the K&N

His setup with the BMC CDA

Sound Clip

Does anyone have or know where I can find an audio clip of this intake?

If there wasn't 12 inches of snow outside with more coming, I would go get a sound clip for you. I'll try and get one next week.

I managed to get a customer to make a sound clip over the weekend.

Just clip on Sound clip and you'll be able to hear it. This car did have an exhaust, but you can hear the intake.

In the sound clip, does the car that has been recorded have an aftermarket exhaust as well?

I was not able to get the sound clip today. I also think it's going to be difficult to get a good sound clip of the intake without above avg recording tools. I have tired to get a sound clip of mine and they just never sound right.

At this moment my Cooper has a Pipercross CAI, after a lot of kilometers and several times of cleaning its time to change the filter.

I'm thinking to order the DDM CAI (Cooper) at M7 Tuning. What I've heard about it, it's oiled very much. Isn't it too much oiled? Too much oil on the filter is not good for the lambda. Is the capacity of letting air trough of the filter good?

I like the air shield. Question is: would I use this filter or is it better to order this package and order a another airfilter too? For example Pipercross.
