WAY/DDM Cooper Intake
Did you have an aftermarket panel filter before the DDM was installed?
and
Do you have a sound clip of the intake with a stock exhaust setup?
No, but if you tell me how I'll give it a go
Mark
You should see a HP increase and throttle responce. The JCW is still pretty restictive like the stock airbox, just not as bad.

right, i forgot about a chip. I guess when you factor that in a intake/exhaust/chip is close to the jcw, but I think you'll end up getting a damn sight more hp.
I found a GIAC distributor in indy. may be checking them out soon... after I upgrade the intake... to a DDM

Am I correct in assuming that this would "void warrenty" by installing? Is this something I should wait until my warenty is up?
(New to my MINI and new to the idea of mods)Thanks !
HOWEVER,
If something happened to your motor due to the intake and they could prove it (not likely) they would NOT HAVE TO FIX ANYTHING UNDER WARRANTY!!! Just thought I would throw it out there. Just my .02 on that issue. It's very unlikely but if it hit the fan that way and your intake could be called the culprit, then you could have some problems. Check with your local mini guys to see how the dealer has responded to modding.
Well, most dealers won't care and it shouldn't void your warranty.

i installed mine a month or so ago. im lovin it.
i've never heard a intake with a supercharger so i wasnt used to the sound at first.
but better throttle response and the sound is just awesome. not TOO loud and not too quiet.
i love to rev here and there at the traffic lights and the cars next to me always think im tryin to race them.
all i want to do is just hear my intake..

it took me about an hour or so to install. i kept having to go back and forth from gettin tools. didnt gather all of em at once. the install is fairly simple. most of it common sense.
everyone enjoys the intake!!

Sound Clip?
Can Anyone get me a sound clip? Something that has an idle sound as well as a higher rev?
A video clip would also work.
I am concerned about adding this to my cooper b/c of the warrenty issue. (thanks to Way and others for the advice previously stated)
I spoke with my dealer (just breifly, over the phone) and mentioned something like..."would adding a different air intake/filter void my warrenty?" He was pretty sure that it would...but I will be talking to them in person next week while I get some service done.
It sounds like a great mod to start out my moding experience!

install issue - DDM
as the directions state, poping the resonator tube out of the box below the frame is proving to be difficult. don't have a saw that can get in there.
looks like a trip to lowes tomorrow to find a skinny long saw to cut off the resonator tube....
any other suggestions? i have been prying at it for about an hour, don't want to damage a/c lines....

a saw??
hmmm.. I don't recall Waylen using a saw to remove anything from my MCC ... a pry bar maybe...
Zman, you might want to email or call Waylen before you take a saw to it. I still have all of the original airbox parts intact in case I need to put it back on.

I've got them in stock, NO Backorder here.

If anything would happen to your car they would HAVE to PROVE 100% that it had to do with your intake in order to not cover it under warranty.
Plus this is just an intake, were not talking about new pistons or something big here.

yes, a saw.
the instructions from DDM MOtorworks say to try to pry it off or cut it off.
i tried prying for about 2 hours - didn't budge. can't fit a saw in from the top. removed the plastic under body piece, and cut off from the bottom.
i was not able to pop out the resonator from the final box it goes to, very tight fit, even from under the car with a good grasp with various pliers and levers.
the sound is clearly there during medium to hard acceleration. no additinal noise during cruising. its technically the wifes car, so we'll see what she says monday after the commute to work....it may be a bit much for her!
i agree with others that the plastic tubing from the bent intake piece to the valve cover is very inferior compared to OEM (it collapses, OEM does not).
however, the rest of the package is decent - all clamps and screws required - , and the help phone number was available after hours - a rarity is customer service these days.
i would recommend that the instructions be modified to reflect that if the tube does not pop off after a few tries, go to plan b and remove from under neath. i spent way to much time with too many pry bars/screwdrives risking damage to the three a/c lines there.
if the CAI needs to come out and the stock air box back in, i will have to have the dealer pull the remaining resonator tubing out of the receiving box, and replace the resonator that was cut.
