New Grey Market policy in the Philippines

Please confirm if any one has heard that a new policy will soon be implemented that, new/pre-owned vehicles, particularly those whose manufacturers are present in the Philippines, will have to get a special import permit approval prior to importation. This affects primarily the likes of Mitsubishi Evo's, BMW cars, Mercs, Jaguars, Range Rovers, Toyota's, Nissan's. Its these local distributors that are raising the proposed policy to the level of LTO, DOTC & DTI.

So far, the feedback I have received is that, this will effectively jack up the prices of the current available models in the country to date.

Please confirm.

yes i still have it, in fact it is in the course of selling the MCS did i discover that the units prices of the cars we have do not drop that low. Its difficult to import car now. A 05/06 mcs model will now cost you Pesos 2.5m landed to bring into the country. In country, and pipeline importation to date, will not get affected. So there's alot out there rushing to import the units asap to beat the policy date. :impatient :impatient

I refuse to entertain low spot cash buyers, dami dealers. But I'm talking to some at a price range i may agree to. May katapat din yan.
