Vinyl Headlining Paint
Vinyl Headlining Paint
Does anyone have experience with painting or dyeing the vinyl headliner in their Mini? Mine has stains from adhesive that bled through and I'd like to make them gone.
I contacted a guy who solved the same problem with his Austin America, but it turns out he paid someone to mix paint and do it for him. I'd like to take the DIY route, short of replacing the headliner.

About 20 years ago I did this on my TR7... an upholstry shop got me some vinyl "dye" in a rattle can - I masked everything off inside with plastic sheeting and painted it in place... results looked great... but I have no idea how this has advanced in 20 years or where to source the stuff now (though I'm sure it's much easier to find with the Internet...)
Eastwood
Eastwood has it - and the recommend surface prep stuff
I have a couple of cans sitting in the garage waiting on warmer wx and motivation.
Duplicolor has similar - I see it in some auto parts stores. Eastwood has a larger color selection

I have also been doing some experimenting with airbrush fabric paint on vin' ... pretty good results, I'm wear testing a piec of test vin' to see how it lasts....may wait on the rattle cans I bought for a little while.

I used Duplicolor headliner paint on my '68 Mini and it worked VERY WELL. I took the headliner and frame completely out, prepped and sprayed them, then reinstalled them. I also sprayed a few other interior bits with success. Go for it
