Buying advice?

I'm sure it's been asked many times before. I did a search and didn't find a good 'guide', if you will.

Any good sites/threads with things to ask/consider, etc.?

Many thanks!

Minimad sent me this when i posted the same question back in July / Aug..........

If you haven't already, you need to do some research on classic Minis and learn what it is you really want. That is,
What Mini will satisfy your usage?
Are you mechanically inclined?
Do you have a workshop & tools?
Will you depend on the Mini for daily transport?
How much $$ do have have to buy?
How much $ do you have to maintain & upgrade? (you will)
Do you know what to look for? Where Minis rust? (they ALL do)
Do you know enough not to get taken?
Can you tell a Mk1 from a Mk2? A Mk3 from a Sportpack? A 60's car from a 80's car?
Can you spot a REAL Cooper S? (there's more on the road now than were ever made)
Do your homework and you'll find the perfect Mini (for you) and be very happy. Otherwise, you be kicking yourself for a long time.

I would put money on Norm's '74 not really being a '74

But then I owned a variety of Mini's of different 'vintages' in the UK and can remember various thngs being introduced as 'features'. Certainly looking cool now though whatever year it actually might be.....
