What is this?

Hey everyone.. trying to get my suspension installed but my mechanic is telling me that this piece is bad. He walks up to the tire, jiggles it and it moves (on both sides).. what is this piece? Where can I buy it??

Thanks!

Looks like the lower ball joint.

I would try www.7ent.com

here ya go http://www.7ent.com/detail.cfm?pageid=694

Since your in Italy you might want to try Mini Spares in the UK, save on some shipping.... http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=35318

When disassembled you'll find there are different thickness shims under the threaded cap. If the ball joint isn't knackered, removal of shims or changing to alternate thickness shims, will tighten the ball joint up. The ball joint kit for one side (upper & lower) is cheap. The mechanic will need to be patient in fitting these as it is all dependent on the proper shimmming and torquing of the joint.

Does the tire move up and down or front to back? If it is up and down, then your ball joints are bad. If it moves front to back then it is a bad tie rod. If it is the inner tie rod you will have to replace the steering rack.
