Gas Leak
Gas Leak
So I noticed an ominous puddle forming under my rear left tire yesterday and sure enough if was gas. I stuck my head up underneath as far as I could and could see a slow drip, but not the origin. I am guessing that I have a leak in the fuel line coming from the tank. Any suggestions on repair. Just want an idea of what I am in for before I start. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a good guess ...
probably at the connection - but worst case is the tank has actually rusted thru and begun to weep.
If it was me I think I'd just order a new tank - altho pricey, they appear to be readily available and pretty straight forward to install. But if you want to attempt repair you might want to try: http://por15.com/PRODUCTS/FUELSYSTEM...2/Default.aspx

but most important is to not screw around with gas... I recommend you drain the tank completely, soon. Don't let this thing sit in a garage and drip gas
... be sure you are not letting it build up fumes in a garage that also houses your hot water heater or furnace! And DO NOT try to weld a gas tank!!!!
Safety First! {It can be done but only AFTER ensuring the tank is GAS FREE as in purged of all fumes}

Thanks. I plan on doing a better check on Friday when i am off from work to see if I can get a better idea of where the leak is coming from exactly. I am sure I will have some more specific questions then...
Finally had a chance to fix the problem this weekend. the clamp where the rubber fuel hose from the tank meets the metal fuel line had lost the battle with rust. I put a new clamp in place and voila, no more leak. glad it was that simple

If this had been my car
Good for you
I'm reasonably sure if this had been my car
the gas tank would have been bad and on pulling it out I would have decided the metal under the tank was bad and on cutting into that would have a new view of the rear subframe causing that to come out too - and the fuel line would be suspicious which would cause me to replace that allowing a look at the exhaust which would look bad aggghhhhhhh :impatient
and so on and so on ...
glad your's was easy
