grounding
grounding
hi all.
i want to change from positive ground to negitive.
going to install some things that only work on -
on my 66-s with generator i was told to switch the terminals & then
pull the lead off the gen. & spark it a couble of times & it;s a done deal.
is this the scoop? if so , what about the instruments? any other issues?
thanks, doug

Yes, that's about it - the wire you want to 'spark' is the field coil wire (the thin one). Other than that, there are a couple things like guages that you need to deal with: if you have an Ammeter, switch the leads; and any other electric guage should be run through a Bi-Metal Voltage Stabilizer (a stock Smiths part that is attached to the back of the Speedometer from the mid-'60's on) - early positive ground stuff didn't use the stabilizer and run on lower voltage than the standard 12 or 13 volts (the stabilizer lowers the voltage to compensate).
