Wipac Lights

We mounted on two Wipac driving lights on the Mini and are wondering about the wiring.
There's a blank switch on the switch panel. Can we use a switch and wire to that? Any switch, or should it be a specific one? Have been looking on ebay for extras. Do you think we need a relay or fuse for just two? Not sure how to go about it. Just look like poseurs right now.

Always best to make sure it is fused, and a relay will certainly help if you decide to use Lucas switches. You don't want to draw lamp current thru the switch. You can run a power line off the batt terminal on the solenoid with an inline fuse thru the relay to the lamps. Activate the relay with a power line off the fuse box to the relay then ground.

I bought two lighted rockers & small panel from Autozone. Hung it under the top rail of the dash. Wired it in this manner, but I might be drawing a little more current....

Whoa! What size are those? They are awesome. I've been watching some Lucas ones on eBay, way too much money, darn it. '
Nice headlamp guards, wish they made them like that for the driving lights, instead of the plastic covers.

Those are Lucas SFT700 and SLR700 Flamethrowers (vintage) 7" diameter.

There are stone guards for lamps that mount on a pedestal that goes under the lamp mount. I'll try to track them down. I think I saw them on a UK website. I think they were for 6" lamps as the WIPAC are.

EDIT- if you want to search for them look for light accessories on early (50-60's) Jaguars. These lamps came on their sedans.

Those are some damn bright lights on the Minimad machine. They work well as hand warmers also from about 4 feet away.
