But for those of you who like to do their own work, don't waste your time and money on the GoMini kit. Another local company is making a VERY HIGH QUALITY subframe that does not require extending the front end of the car! I am doing a writeup on it for MiniNews next week, so I will post a link to the article after it is complete. In the meantime, here is a taste:

With the exception of some tinkering I love this car. I just picked mine up form MiniTEC a couple weeks ago. They are definatly fast. The other thing its having a Honda motor in it you have a lot more up to date things you can do.

I added Power windows, Keyless entry, sunroof, cruise control(still has bugs to work out)and A/C these are all things that don't work well with an OEM classic. Can be done but don't work well.

Met that mini in the flesh on my first ever Mini2 cruise! I think it's a horrible colour and the bonnet looks naff....but it's still an impressive machine....he used the Starlet GT dash as well...

Rick, anymore info on that front clip. I'm really interested in one that doesn't add any inches to the front.

Tit, that's an interesting Mini. Looks like a merger of bits too. I don't think any of the Aussie Clubmans had external hinges. You're right about the bonnet. Looks silly. And there's something wring with the bumper area.
I'd take it though.

The Aussie Clubman had external hinges right up to the end. My 1978 has external hinges and wind up windows..

I'd have to find pictures to verify, but I don't think my 77 clubman had external hinges. All my classics had roll-up windows, I think all Aussie Minis did.

Your right about the windows. All Aussie Minis had roll up windows. A guy in our club has a mk1 aussie Mini.

Thanks. MC2 is doing an article on the car so there will be a lot of goo pics there. I'm still testing the engine a bit to lock down times and such. right now it runs a little slow in my book. Just did a terst today 0-60 in 7.8. I know it's faster that that but I also had 2 poeple in the car and the AC was on.

Hey DF - I read somewhere that your car pooped a con-rod at the Dragon events... is that true?

I'm still looking for video from that event - anyone got a link to some here on the site?

My $.02

They are not Minis in the most literal sense.

I am selling my MINI to build one anyways and I just file it in my head as "Mini shelled rice rod" and well that is just fine with me.

I am keeping my saloon with a Mini engine, and that is my more Mini Mini, but I want something more reliable, with more power, and more room so I am working on getting a V-tec panel van.

And one last thing for those that INSIST on giving you or anyone else crap because their Mini is less "real" for any reason.

Grown men playing with little cars ought not to make fun of other grown men playing with little cars.

Exactly. It's your Mini. Do with it what you want!

(DF) "did a terst today 0-60 in 7.8"

Holy crap... did you start in 4th gear, DF? I thought you had a B18C5 in there. Car & Driver did it in 5 flat I think with tons of wheelspin.

I only have a B16a. So my HP and tork are a bit less than the b18. That is untill I mod it a bit It's still very fast though.

I Mini is a Mini no matter what you do to it. People have been modifing Minis since thay came out. Inside and out it is still a "real Mini" it just has a bit more reliablilty than the A series. My next project car will be a Mini truck with a 1275 a series engine.

When I got this car I got it because I did not want to be under the bonnet more that I was driving it. At this point it's been about the same but I think in the long run it will pull through with what I hoped for.

Panel vans are great for conversions. They have a longer wheel base therefore more stable on the road at high speads. If it was not for their ugly apperence( just my opinion) than I would have done that instead.

Lately I've been really become respectfull of this little car. It's work to keep it on the road but well worth it.

I can't say that I've driven a B18C5 mini, but I did have a C5 in a stripped out 1993 Civic CX which tipped the scales at 2050. That was one quick car, but I can only imagine what one of these feels like.
