I've been passively looking for a Classic Mini for the past 15 years. I've wanted one since I learned to drive and have bounced the idea of getting an old VW because I just couldn't seem to find the right Classic Mini and I wanted something old soon but for once in my life I told myself to just wait, my Mini would pop up one day, probably when I least expected. In one of my non-looking episodes a friend of mine forwarded me an add for a Mini. Because I wasn't actively looking for a car I reluctantly called, I say reluctantly because the pictures of the car looked good and anytime I've been stoked on a car it's never worked out. I set up an appointment to view and no one called to tell me it sold minutes before I got there so I took that as a good sign!

Body wise she seems pretty good, I looked over all the trouble spots, poked my fingers in spots looking for structure issues. Looked over the gas tank, battery area, suspension points, etc. She's not awesome looks wise but she is workable. Her biggest issue is the passenger front footwell, the sill has been welded but poorly and this is listed in the higher priority list of things to do.

Mechanically she's miserable. She's all there, the engine supposedly has full compression in 2 out of 4 cylinders and the other 2 have compression but very low. We will see what evolves from a full rebuild. She needs new brakes which is fine, I'm going to do a disc brake set up in the front with a big drum set up in the back. She came with her exhaust system but I'm already set on a Stage 1 kit.

She needs some work but hopefully in the near future I'll have my very own '74 RHD Classic Mini.


Down the very long road I have dreams of doing a V-Tec conversion on her but its a fading dream for now I'm pretty set on restoring her to her classic glory.
