mini twincam turbo
I came across this site from Australia-
http://www.bretts.com.au/~con/mini/
Professionally installed Suzuki GTi Twin Cam 16 Valve Turbo Charged and intercooled engine that delivers 165Hp AT THE WHEELS. Using the 1.3 rule that is about 215Hp at the flywheel.
Clocked at 12.74secs @ 109 Mph over the 1/4 mile.
5 speed gearbox and Limited Slip Diff, fully adjustable front and rear suspension, Hi-lo's, Oil cooler, Cooper S Twin Fuel tanks, and much much more.
1.3litre Twin cam 16valve.Intercooler fits behind the grille.
Big cross flow radiator and computer controlled thermo fan.
Upgraded dual circuit brake system.
Direct fire distributorless ignition system with Hall Effect crank angle sensor.
The blow off valve helps keep the turbo spinning. (and makes that great sound)
Total vehicle weight is about 1450Lbs.
Body has been deseamed and debumpered. It sits on Superlite Performance mags with 195X45X13 Dunlop Sports. 4 Pot, vented and boosted brakes. Twin fuel tanks.

Minihune,
Looks really cool. Another example of disproving the statement "no replacement for displacement". Must be a blast to drive.
Never heard of the 1.3 rule. If he is having 30% driveline loss on the car, then he really has some problems. I would guess that he is seeing more like 11%-12% loss, making it more in the range of 180hp. Still a ton of hp for the size of vehicle.

It's always too cool to see this. I've come across a few engine swap Minis. But never actually been in one. But that doesn't stop me from sitting there and imaging what it'd be like. Typical engine swaps for Minis include Civic engines, putting out around the same hp as this one posted.
But yes, if he's losing that much hp from the fly to the wheels on such a small car, then he's got some issues there that need to be delt with. But it's still pulling 12 secs in the 1/4, which is always good. Corvette killer!
Thanx for sharing though. That's a good start to my morning seeing that.
Cheers,

That ones been around a few years. There is a UK site that lists alternative engined mini projects. A good friend of mine here in Tampa area has a saloon with the 1L 3-cyl Suzuki w/tubo and a Clubby Estate with the same 1.2L Suzuki twin cam conversion also w/turbo. It isn't a bigger displacement, just a better motor. Take one apart someday. The quality of the machinework and materials is far superior to the A series. PLus its a MUCH lighter alloy block and a 5 spd.

call me weird but I kind of like the clubman's looks - not to mention that they go for a lot less $$ than a Mini. That car is so cool!
Here's a clubman on ebay right now...the buy it now price ain't bad....

This particular Mini-Suki resides in Arizona now. The owner saw it on the Mini-Mania website and purchased it from down under. The owner has repainted it, same color, Mini 30 colors I believe, redid the interior, and has also done some work under the hood as it was prone to overheating. I was behind him last year in Tucson and this Mini really goes!
