What to do?

Hello -

Im a service member serving in the UK and I own a 1982 Mini. But I have orders to Korea & my next assignment might be Japan. Im not authorized to bring a vehicle into Japan. Which means, if Im successful w/ importing the car, the Mini would be in storage for three years or so. With that said, has anyone here imported a Mini before? How troublesome was it?

Not too troublesome. Costs about $1,500 unless as a serviceman you can ship for less. Contact Phoenix Cargo out of Southampton UK http://www.phoenix-cargo.com/ They're the best!

It's worth storing it. Find somewhere cheap to store. We stored my father's 1959 corvette in a friend's sealed up dry barn for about 5 years while we were living in Australia and then Panama... IMO... you'll regret not keeping it if it's a car you truly love.
