Just made my first purchase for my classic... let the games begin!

Well... I just made my first official purchase for my classic. I need to replace the right rear (drivers side) brake cylinder. So I decided to do it right. I ordered brake cylinders for both sided, new brake lines for both sides, and new shoes... for both sides. On top of that, I'm hoping to fix a flaky hand brake so I figure... I'll replace the brake springs (upper and lower) while I'm down there. I thought about new drums, but they seem fine. If they aren't right when I get in there, I'll have them turned, and if that's out of the question, I'll purchase new ones. Next is braided lines for the font, and vented rotors for my 8.4" discs. But that's in the future.

This thread isn't really asking for help or anything (But if you have suggestions about the install, let me know) it's mainly just to share the excitement. This officially means that I'm starting work on my mini..

Have fun with the project.

Watch the ID of the rear drums, there isn't much to resurface before they become useless as there's not much adjustment. Make sure the adjuster wedges aren't worn and the adjuster screw is loose and has some anti-seize on it. Hardest part is installing the wheel cylinder hold-down clip. Be sure to also adjust the E brake cable 3-4 clicks off the floor when done. Braided lines are a help. Don't know of any real benefit to vented rotors other than looks. A Mini weighs 1400#, it doesn't take a lot to stop it.

I'm doing PM on mine today - clutch adjutment (maybe hydraulics) oil change, tune-up, and possibly installing twin SU's...

No pics yet. Actually. No parts yet. I'm still waiting for them to ship out. And I won't have time to do the project till Spring break. Classes and work is KILLING me. I'm trying to get my masters in 5 years... Unfortunately this puts Tink on the back burner a bit.
