contract done......this project will be a little lengthy but i will post once things get rolling......have some other mini obligation that come first but there is plenty to do in the mean time !! now he has to figure out which honda motor to go with
Project on hold untill customer ready.......not a cheap conversion, just gotta get his ducks in a row and make sure he's getting what he wants.....when it happens, it will be an all out build
What VTEC motor does he want to do and will you start with the MiniTec sub frame? I'll be watching this very, very closely, as it was always my plan to convert Fiona to VTEC if (when) the A-series engine finally gives up the ghost.
Sorry for the tease everyone, I didn't realize how much I would have to spend to get everything that I wanted. Because of my tight budget, I could not get the project started. This project will likely not begin for a while... but it WILL happen... I guarantee it! Until then, I'll be settling my finances AND planning out everything I am going to have in it.
One thing I know I want is the flip-front. I know some don't like working with them, but I like how it looks. About the VTEC, the plan was to start with one of the VTEC packages sold at superfastminis.com (which includes the MiniTec sub frame). Til now, I still haven't decided on whether to use the K20 or the B16 engine as I know nothing about these two... time for more reading =D

Best wishes on your project - most really enjoy watching the process...me included.
There's also a number of build threads on these two sites:

The UK forums are fun as you can read about the Vauxhall & other Eurocentric conversions. I love the videos of the ringmini going head to head with a Porsche on the track.
Swissarmybottle-
This would be a good time to dig deep into the research of myriad Vtec options/configurations. If you haven't already, test drive a couple of them.

AMEN!
To add to that...you can best drive one at MiniTec in Royston - a must do to be fully in the know of the different flavors.
The painful fact is that if you get up there by mid October they'll have a little Mini truck to test drive!
Everybody does it...

Hmm. I was thinking more like test driving all the cars in California--there's a lot of 'em out there.
And... it's a cheap round trip to get there. Royston? Very hard to find, very expensive and time-consuming trip... woudn't be worth it just to drive some silly truck. I wouldn't even go there...

I would LOVE to test drive a VTEC mini! Too bad Royston is in Georgia =/ I do live in California, but I don't know of any companies/places to go to drive a VTEC mini. In the meantime, I'll be reading up on all the projects going on at theminiforum.co.uk and finding out how to fund my VTEC mini faster! Thanks for the link!
Anyone have any input between K20A3 and the B16 engines provided by superfastminis?

I think there are probably three or four Vtec minis within the MOALA community and maybe some of those folks would at least give you a ride. If you live in Central or Northern areas, you might consider checking in with MiniMania (they were/are building a Vtec pickup earlier this year). MiniMania is working as a marketing arm for Minitec products so I'm guessing they would be pretty eager to show you the hardware & test drives if available.
I am in San Jose, so that's only a 3 hour trip to Mini-Mania! I definitely have to give them a call to ask for a test drive.
I had no idea but meno's Steve Austin is the one that got me to want a VTEC mini all this time! The first time I ever saw it was last week on superfastminis.com and all I could think was... beautiful... I must have one. Yesterday I went searching through the older classic mini threads here on NAM and stumbled on the first MT-K creation... read all of it! Would I love to try a ride in that! If I went the K route, I'd feel obligated to supercharge it as well.... unless the drive was too intense for me (the "fastest" car i've ever driven is a 2007 cooper s =/).
My main goal is to have this car as an extremely fun, reliable, daily driver... so maybe i should stand on the shoulders of "some" and not go with too much power =D

one of the advantages of using the k series is a much wider powerband over the b series.
for what it's worth, i have the minitec mtb frame with a '98 spec jdm b18c. i currently drive the mini daily with a 80 mile round trip commute...no major problems to report.
btw...if you are ever in the la area, you are welcome for a drive in my mini.

If you come down and drive Boisters you can drive mine too. However its not a typical VTEC conversion and not even close to the inexpensve side. Its a rear engined VTEC. But if you want a true feel of the difference it will give you an idea. My build https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=119730
Yea Boister you can drive it too....I know that was coming
