Looking for a Mini

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a classic Mini - one in reasonable condition that I can drive and restore at my leisure. Not a full-on rustbucket super-project, nor a trailer queen.

Can anyone help me find one?

I have seen the dealer websites, like Classic Mini Auto's, West PA Mini's, and Turky's.

I did talk to Turky about one of his - but he was a little in-your-face for my taste, so I passed.

I am new to the classic Mini's, but have owned quite a few older cars in my time, and am a reasonable shadetree mechanic.

Can anyone point me to some good classifieds? Maybe I'd be better off looking for a Mini private-party.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link!

Their site does not appear to have been updated since 2007, though...?

West PA Minis appears to have closed.

Another Dealer http://www.miniobsession.com

I also have seen them pop up on www.craigslist.org every now and then.

One thing to think about on the dealers is some of them are mini enthusiasts selling them because they just like the car. Some are looking to make money by picking them up cheap and importing them to turn a profit. Not that you'll get a better deal one way or the other but it helps to know where they stand when you deal with them.

How are Turky's cars, quality-wise?

Ignoring the high-pressure sales pitch, are his good cars as good as he says, and his great cars as great as he says?

Remember: A used car dealer is a used car dealer. Just because they sell Minis doesn't make them any more saintly than any other dealer. Treat them all the same. Caveat Emptor. Some good dealers may have bad cars, some bad dealers may have good cars. Your first obligation is to learn as much as possible BEFORE you act. Otherwise you'll may have a bad experience. Don't let your emotions cloud your judgement. if the seller makes you uncertain or nervous-> Walk away.....there's always another car.

Shoot an email to Richard and Carol at carolb555@hotmail.com . I purchased my Mini Mayfair from them last September. Very satisfied with the car. Most importantly, they seem to be very honest people with good intentions.

They can provide you with what they have on hand, and believe me when I say, they have some nice cars in there inventory. BTW, there not cheap. Remeber, you get what you pay for.

There located in SC, just at the GA border on the water side of the state.

Tell them John in VA sent Ya

Good Luck, and hope to see you find the Mini of your dreams.
