Looks like I'm a Classic owner!
Hey Matt,
I'll join in with a Congrats on the new family member!
You realize that there are at least a few of us who will be living vicariously with this new addition. Keep us informed. Who knows? Maybe I'll be ready for my first classic very soon.

Hehehe... I can handle that.
Thanks for all your great advice, 2phun!! if not for the people here and my local experts, I'd be VERY nervous about this purchase...

Update.....Matt is on his way back home with the mini and I can't wait to see more pics of the new addition.
Matt, it was a pleasure meeting you last night. My wife and I really enjoyed dinner and the MINI talk.
Though I didn't get the chance to inspect the mini with you, I am sure that everything came out great. I know that it was short visit, but I hope that you and your wife a had great time here in NJ.

Just got Nano's lil' sister home this evening. They seem to be settling in together well. No problems with the transport whatsoever and the car looks fantastic - if anything even better than I'd hoped. The only rusty area I can find is in the boot next to the gas tank - about 3"X4" is pretty flaky. Other than that, evetryhign looks great to my (admittedly amateur) eye, including the whjeel arches, the sills, the pans, window trim... I'm very happy.
I'm off to the DMV in the morning to do some paperwork - better pics tomorrow.
Here's Fiona!

Congratulations! That's a great looking classic! I purchased a re-VINed classic RHD Japanese Import a little over a month ago and somehow managed to turn our two car garage into a 3 car garage. (after some cleaning and creative parking)
Prepare to see the heads turn while driving the classic!

Got my temp plate and put about 100+ miles on the car today. Had it on the highway for a while, then all around Riverside Drive. It certainly is fun to drive, but it IS a lot of work compared to the new MINIs - not nearly as plush. Still... I had a smile on my face everywhere I went, and you really DO get a ton of stares and waves.
I also took the opportunity to wash the car and see what it needs - I'm making a list. Not too much stuff really... It really needs more than anything new headlamp gaskets and a headlamp alignment DESPERATELY... At night, Fiona's a wee bit ****-eyed.

Here's some new pics:

OMG Matt - she's AWESOME!
I've been offline for a couple of weeks (vacation) - just got back and caught up - Congratulations! Fiona is BEAUTIFUL... just a tad jealous here, but very happy for you!

I'm going to start with the Haynes restoration manual first and try to clean up the engine I have before adding performance tweaks. I'm worried that modding the car to that extent would be beyond my megre mechanical skills. But, I'd LOVE to work out a trade with someone that CAN do that sort of work - maybe photography or lighting work in trade for tuning expertise??
If you call that fellow I told you about you can tap into 40 years of LBC experience.
Best find out what works & what doesn't before changing anything.
In case you don't know, LBC = Little British Car
