2007 Mad Dog Sat Vineyard Tour, JULY 7th
#79
Directions: (Mapquest doesn't know where the Oasis is....)
Higgins will let you access ~> 53/290 south... 53/355 will split off after Thorndale, you want to stay on 290, which will be the rt 2 lanes... (you will go up and over 355)... cruise for a bit... when you get some curves and you'll see 64/North Ave exit.. wake up!!... as you pass St Charles Rd (down a slope)GET THYSELF INTO THE FAR RT LANE!! You are looking for I-294 tollway exit (shortly up on a slope)... it is a rt lane exit and a 1 laner!! (judge the traffic as to how soon you want to get into the rt lane.... being sure NOT to exit St Charles Rd in your excitement)... ~> enter I-294.... watch traffic as you venture out, people are also trying to exit near there) ... aim for the center and left lanes. Do you have I-PASS?!! (Get one at Jewel/osco) Through the toll? Congrats!! Now cruise on until you see the Hinsdale Oasis signs and exit rt. (shortly after 34/Ogden Ave)... peel off and stay left on the exit ramp... trucks go rt... and look for MINIs and Dustin!!!!
Now go get yourself a well deserved Starbucks! and welcome to Chicago land!!!
(Actually shouldn't be bad at the time of day we are looking at!)
Did I do good?

You think folks will want to get up at the crack of dawn to go to the Kwik - E - Mart and not do the drive? Crazy. I am going as I will be driving with Paul from our west direction.
Paul, I am thinking I can wait for you at the Aurora Toll Plaza again. If that is the way you want to go. Let me know.

****EVENT UPDATE****
At this time we have 10 MINI's with 15 guest. There are still a few MINI's that are 50/50 and YES there is still room for more. I'm printing a few more maps this morning. If you sign up today you may need to print your own map, which I will send you tonight, please IM your email address after posting.
Radio question, is that 8.01 or 8.10 I found both and want to make sure we are on the same channel. Will have them on once I pass O' Hare.
Time to wash the MINI. I will also have some wine bottle holders to share with the group.
Most of you have my cell, if you don't and would like it, send me an IM.

Who can resist those donuts?!!!!
(Dustin... I'll try and save you one!)
Radio time clinic: How to Change your Radio from 1:0 to 8:11
First... Indulge in something to help you relax and be daring...
Second.... Figure out how to turn the radio on
Third... Find a button that resembles MENU and push the thing until you see "set channel".. or something that somewhat refers to channels...
Forth.... endulge somemore... now you usually push up and down arrows at this point to pick your lucky number..... lets all aim for lucky "8"... Got it?.. Great!....push menu again usually sets your lucky number and brings up the next prompt...
Fifth.... "set code"... or something like sub channel... let's not be to daring and go for lucky "11" this time, using the same buttons that got you to #8... and push menu to set
You did it!
Sixth.. Now practice holding your talk button 2 sec before you speak into the radio.... we will all want to hear some nice banter on the trip during those boring streatches.... or you want to report something exciting!!
[This demo was done using a Motorola radio. Your radio may be different, in which case you need to keep pushing any button until you see the correct prompts or give up.... in which case, hand the radio to any kid, and they will figure it out in 2 min or less.]
Now recall what it means to "Shake the Head" & "Wag the Tail"! (or shall we make this another lesson in Rally Etiquette & Formations?)
Paul.... beat you to the Hinsdale?

You trying to make things difficult, are you?!!!!
Yes, .01 should be considered .1, in your case, BUT if you want to be a math geek,
.1 is the same as .10 or .100000 BUT .1 is not the same value as .01... which appears to be your choice for #1..
You obviously have one of those New Math radios :^).... How about... (incase anyone else has this issue, or is preturbed by numerical blips), we go for a simple fix..... #11 subchannel/code?
.... we aim to please....
It is duely noted in the above radio refresher....
Do we get our maps at the orchard? or are you emailing tonight?

I even found my white wheels again today.

********** Event Follow Up**********
We started out this morning with 9 MINI's. Had a great time, great roads , and a few new owners out for the 1st time. Great Lunch at Tabor Hill.
Everyone had a great time, enjoy the 2nd lap of Hipps Hollow Road.
The the Police escort for the last 10 miles was nice too.
Hope you will all make it again next year and bring a MINI friend too.
I look forward to seeing some pics from our guest soon.
