IPASS vs. Front license plate

I'm thinking of not putting on the front license plate just yet, but I also just got the I PASS. I realized that they ask for license plate info and such, so I was wondering if anybody has had any problems using hte IPASS without a front license plate. Ii'm not worried that it won't work or anything, but rather that they'll send me a citation home for not having the front plate,

comments?

Mataku:
My MCS is replacing a Toyota (the specific [TERCEL] model I will [TERCEL] keep to myself, but it starts with [TERCEL] ), which the Toy's plates were "registered" along with my Caravan's, when I called that 800 number to activate my I-Pass...

Anyhow, after I picked up the MCS I phoned I-Pass customer service (after hours, ZERO time on hold), and just told them that the Toyota was going away, gave them the MINI's description, and the "temporary tag" number. I specifically mentioned that the temp tag is only on the rear of the MINI, and they basically said no problem just call again when the "real" plates go on. The dealer says they will be glad to "install" my front bracket when I go pick up my plates, so I'll probably take them up on that.

Edit(orial): People are curious by nature. Having a front plate, (unless you tell me it's NOT the law in IL, but I think they're required), would put you in compliance with the law, thereby reducing (hopefully) the amount of "interest" taken in you or your car, by those guys who write moving violations. They tend to have great "curiosity" once you've provided them with the opportunity .

I'll let you know if I start getting citations/letters from I-Pass. I have been cruising the tollways for a week, to complete a proper break-in in as little time as possible. Those letters, if they're coming, should be along any time now...

I-Pass rocks, but I wish they'd hurry up and send me my extra velcro!

I looked around somewhere and found an Audi site where a guy has been using the I-Pass for years w no front plate and no citations. Well, that's good enough for me.

I know it's probably better not to attract attention, but I don't know just dont like the sight of it. I especially don't like the idea of drills going through the body.

I think the booths are only equipped with cameras facing the rear
of the car for the purpose of taking down your plate number.

Our neighboring state Indiana does not require a front plate,
so meaningless for toll roads to have forward facing cameras.

ah.. good information indeed.

how do you set up a poll the way, I was interested in seeing how many of those who require front plate have them and if they don't if they've been experiencing any sort of problems.

mataku- the more you talk about it, the more people start noticing
no front plates and the more chances you will get pulled over....so
drop the subject now.

just trying to figure something out here. I don't want to deal with unwanted attention so I might just give in and put them on, especially after getting my first ticket recently I don't want to deal with another one. we'll see how it goes though
