MINI + DSC + Snow = Bad Driving Experience
I'm starting to get a clearer picture that all of this is preference. Personally I don't like the DSC starting out - and I've pinpointed the reason I don't like it. I live in a subdivision where I need to make a left-hand turn onto a street that has a decent amount of 50mph traffic on it. With the DSC enabled and any slippery conditions and the car just won't accelerate during the turn. With it off I have no problems in the exact same conditions.
Moral of the story - I flip it off when I leave the house and flip it back on once I am up to speed. Besides, it's fun to flip those toggle switches!

You still don't get it.......if you turn off the ASC/DSC you will eliminate only the braking assist and traction control (which is what everyone here is talking about) So there is no benefit to pulling the fuses, besides disabling the ABS which is designed to allow you to maintain control iof you car as you maneuver around things like you posted you want to be able to do. I am not talking about straight line braking, all though there are plenty of test/studies that show how effective ABS is on all surfaces EXCEPT gravel.
You can do what ever you want, but don't try to rationalize it with incorrect data.

Stop arguing or I will pull more fuses
From what I understand, a skidding/locked tire will build up a wedge of snow/gravel/dirt in front of the tire that helps introduce more resistance and a shorter straightline braking distance (in those conditions). However, on regular pavement (wet, dry, salty, icy, etc...), a non-skidding tire will stop more quickly. The computer enhanced ABS pulsing on each individual wheel is far more effective at modulating maximum braking power near the lockup point on a more consistent basis compared to what even a talented driver can accomplish even by feathering the brakes just prior to that lockup point. Braking while turning also gives ABS the nod for control on a more consistent basis as well.
Regardless, though, if you're more comfortable with disabling ABS (much like many of us are happy to disable ASC/DSC), and know what to expect and are prepared to react appropriately, I don't have an issue with someone doing so.
