Speed enforcement cameras on Edens/I-94 in Chicago

I'm sooo unhappy about this... The Edens was the one place I felt I could cruise with the speed of traffic and not worry very much about about getting pulled over/ticketed.

I *think* I may have gotten popped by a camera tonight going Northbound near Touhy... However, between the two flashes I was passed (on the right no less) by another car so I'm hoping that it picked him up and not me.

After I dropped SWMBO off I got back on headed north and just set the cruise at 55 mph (that was really boring... while in reality I'm going pretty fast it seemed to be really slow for an open highway)

The Edens is the place that sees about 75% of the real enjoyable moments in my Charger R/T, I might as well sell the damn thing and buy a gutless 4-banger (not a knock at MINI Coopers whatsoever, not sure about regular MINI's but the S's are definitely not gutless) if they are gonna take that away from me.

I'm not sure if they camera's are temporary as they were patching the roadway this weekend. Which BTW looks like they are doing a good job... the patches look to be to be 8-10" deep with lots of new rebar that looks to be embedded in the surrounding road surface .

Do you have a radar detector? I'm curious if the speed enforcement cameras will give a radar warning...

Thanks for the warning, and hopefully your mailbox doesn't present you with a "speeding in construction zone" violation any time soon.

Nope I don't have a radar detector.

Although I bet they do have radar... but I wonder if it's directional (aiming at your rearend) meaning you've already passed the camera my guess that any warning from a radar detector would be too late.

I thought they were just doing pothole repair on the Edens this weekend. on the news, they were talking about closing 2 lanes in each direction to do so. I would think any traffic camera would give off some sort of radar signal??

Also, I thought they were going to finish the repaving of the Edens that they started last year. I checked the IDOT site and it didn't mention anything though... Hopefully you didn't get pinched.

They finished that up sometime in Sept/Oct. It was weird too, they tore out and redid a lot of patches that the put in the year before... it makes me wonder if the concrete test cylinders didn't pass their design PSI.

While I think I-94 is in really good shape for a 20+ year old highway it is starting to show it's age. I think this work is to fix potholes that showed up this winter.
