Where to get clutch replaced?

Hello all,

I'm trying to find a shop that will not take a leg and an arm from me for replacing my clutch. With that said I was wondering if any one on the board had their clutch replaced by any of the local shops?

I was quoted by lucky dog for parts(OE), fluid and labor at $2000, and from MOT $2200.
Any one else have any other recommendations?

Give MachV (aka fastmini.net) a call. 571-434-8333 They are located in Sterling just past MOS on route 28.

Dan and all those guys there are good people. They've been my go to shop for years know.

Be sure to report back

I'd love to hear how your quest to replace your clutch goes. My wife's MINI has gone through 4 clutches, all replaced under warranty (which is now expire). It's only a matter of time, I fear, until it's time to put another one in and I'd be looking to do it right.

MINI USA had the opportunity to step up and make this right, but they failed miserably (and lost any future business and recommendations from us, unfortunately - but that's a whole other story...)

Are you replacing your clutch because of a particular problem or just trying to increase performance?

My car is a 2002 cooper S, and currently has 75,xxx miles with original clutch.

I'm replacing my clutch because it sounds like chewbacca.
It makes this high pitch noise and sounds like it's slipping but grips decently.
But then I was surfing around NAM to get more feedback about this problem and they told me it was a problem due to my fly wheel glazing.

Do people on NAM usually go for the Rebuilt factory clutch kit?
Any one have experience with Valeo or other OEM clutch? (not really looking into performance but rather reliable company will do. )

Where did you end up going for your clutch work? What pricing were you able to get?
