I know this topic is not intended as part of the "Canada Sign In" but ............... you're the guys that are "in the know." I am a transplant from Florida. Laugh if you want, I have heard it all.
Need some info on winter tires. Currently running 205/45R17 on stock rims. What do you have to tell me? On a budget, considering (heavily) going with (cheap) steel rims (?).
Appreciate your input guys. Thanx.

I have Michelin x ice on 17's and think they are possibly the best I've ever used. About $200 a tire. Tires are much cheaper south of the 49th parallel if your close to the border.

Thanks for your input.
Am unable to find the necessary 205/45R17 though.
I'm 4 hours north of the border.
Have to check that option out if I can save enough to pay for the "push-water."

Getting ready for my 5th winter in Winnipeg, a transplant from Chicago, and new Mini owner ('05 JCW). Will be picking up winter tires south of the 49th at US Thanksgiving. Still can't stomach paying CA prices for tires ($187 ea. vs. $300 ea.) Will be driving my old Saab with winter tires until I can switch over to the new Blizzaks.

I took the ViaRail "Canadian" roundtrip that passed thru your hometown several years ago.

There used to be a MINI Club of Montreal. Some great places to drive around in Quebec.
