BLOCK HEATERS
I have found that a car will start down to -35F without
one. So...the 0W-30 for starters. Somebody like
JC Whitney might have something you could rig
up as I doubt MINIUSA or CA or UK has this high
on the priority list. Good luck though, eh...

I was in MINI DURHAM in Whitby last Friday and asked if there was a block heater available. The salesman told me that his MINI was currently a guinni pig for a block heater. They had installed it on his Cooper but he said that he has not really had to use it yet.
So BMW does have one that fits!
Next time I am in the dealer I will see if I can get a part # and price.

>>Please post the info when you get it..........I live in Calgary, and contrary to what people think we don't have chinooks all winter........i want a block heater.
I feel your pain. I used to live there and know just how nasty it gets. Good luck soldier.
Cheers,

While the car will start in -35C, it all depends how long it's out there. At that temp, you must start you car every 4-5 hours. My friend left his MCS for 12 hours in -30C and it turned over once then called it quits. Had to get it boosted the next day.
