Hello - I have a 2002 Mini Cooper and the key remote just died. I searched this site for resources and found tons of feedback and suggestions. After replacing the battery, I'm pretty sure the remote is completely dead.

I contacted my local dealership and have been quoted about $500 for a new key - this seems extremely expensive for a replacement key. Has anyone else had this problem? And are there any alternatives in the GTA area?
