5/9/09 Breakfast
Those wineries will be fine
My dogs have been real sick after an allergic reaction to the adult booster shot. It appears to be the Lepto part of the shot. I have not had a chance until this morning to get back on the thread here. It was a rough weekend, but they are doing fine now. Hopefully you will all get to meet Beckham and Riggs next Saturday
.
My wife and I may hit a couple other wineries as time permits. Sounds like the drive will be great. I just changed the oil and rotated the tires. I have had a slight vibration between 70 and 80. It appears to have moved to the back now (don't figure). My guess it's a balance problem or a bad tire
. Gotta love Ohio pot holes. The rims look good except for one little ding and a few brush scratches. I guess the tire warranty will have to be used on her first check up.
Looking forward to meeting all of you.
Tim
FYI, I have begun work on a rally. It will more than likely take about 1/2 a day to complete all the stops.

Route rough draft
Looking at my county maps - This is what I have come up with so far -
East on Mayfield
Left turn onto County Rd
Right turn onto Mulberry Rd
Left turn onto Sperry
Right turn onto Chardon Road
Left turn onto Wisner Rd (go 0.9 miles)
Left turn onto Kirkland/Chardon Rd (go 0.7 miles)
Right turn onto Sperry (go 1.2 miles)
Right turn onto Mitchell Mills Rd (go 0.8 miles)
Turn left onto Wisner Rd (go 0.5 miles)
Left turn onto Mentor (Bir red barn across the street) (go 0.2 miles)
Right turn onto Griswold (go 0.8 miles)
Left turn onto Heritage (go 0.6 miles)
Right turn onto Girdled (go 3.4 miles)
Left turn onto Cascade (go 1.4 miles)
Right turn onto Williams (go 0.8 miles)
Right turn onto route 86 (go 0.1 miles)
Left turn onto Carter
Carter turns into Paine Rd then Blair Rd
Continue driving until the dead end at River Road
Turn around and take Blair Rd back to Ford
Left turn onto Ford Rd
Left turn onto Route 528
Right turn onto Griswold
Left turn (jog) onto Emerson
Immediate Right onto Doty
Chalet Debonne Vineyards on the right - 7743 Doty Rd. -- Madison, OH 44057
Leaving the vineyard – Go east on Doty which turns into South River Road
Left turn onto route 534 North
Left turn onto State Road which takes us to a covered bridge by the name of Harpersfield bridge. This will run us back into Route 534 North.
Take 534 North all the way to the lake.
Right turn onto to Lake Road. Old Firehouse winery is the next stop - 5499 Lake Road, Box 310 Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio 44041
Leaving the Firehouse – Go west on Lake to Route 534. If you want to go east along the lake, I hear it is a real nice drive. Your choice.
Left turn at Route 534
Right turn on Route 307 – Ferrante winery is next just up the road on the right - 5585 State Route 307 -- Geneva, OH 44041
This will need to be modified to include Blair Road which I could not locate. Please suggest any changes you would like. I have no idea what roads would be fun to drive. Please also note that these wineries do not open until noon. So we may want to push our departure back a little from Mayfield.
My wife is having dinner with her boss tonight, soooooo the boys and I are going to take a test run after work to see how this all works out (what a shame - LOL). I will note distances on each leg. If anyone is interested in hooking up with me tonight while running this gauntlet, send me a PM.
Enjoy

Last Year Cascade was closed, I believe, so be careful out there (although it is a cool road to run).
I would suggest out of the Firehouse seeing if you could head East (instead of back to 534) out towards 45. The road runs along the lake and can be a pretty drive (on a nice day)
If you're looking at a map, Carter and Ford Road meet just above Blair Road hill, Blair runs between that intersection and River Road (which is also pretty cool to run.)
Going past 528 on Ford isn't that interesting and you may end up on a gravel road/ gravel filled road if you head out that way. If you head a bit North on 528, there is a turn for Doty Rd that will take you straight there.
I'd suggest (unless you're planning to eat and heed to hit them onin a in a specific order) hitting Debonne then Ferrante's because they are both out South then head North towards the Firehouse. There is also a winery on 534 at the RR tracks just before the center of Geneva that you could hit on the way North.
Anyone traveling in on 90 or 2, the LEO's have been quite active out here the last few weeks, so be careful.

OK found Blair road
Your could turn at Ford road as originally planned to 528 North. Take Griswold to Emerson. Then to Doty
If you want to take Blair Road, do not turn at Ford and continue North to River. Take River to 528. Head south. Take Griswold to Emerson. Then to Doty.
If Cascade is still closed, we could use route 608 (stop at the Concord Airpark and drag race LOL) to Williams. I will check it out tonight and let you all know.
Taking 531 along the lake would be a nice drive. My wife and I have to be in Cleveland for dinner at 4. We will obviously be cutting our trip a little short this time around. Neither one of us has been up to Geneva on the lake. Love to see it.
Once we figure out when and at what point we want to top, we can modify the route accordingly. We could always go to Geneva on the lake initially and work south. Wow, too many driving options - I love it!!!

bring your walkie talkies
after doing the Dragon last week it would be a great idea if everybody brought their radios. It looks like we will be a little bit of everywhere. I will be there. THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS
Cascade is open
I made it to Carter. Man, you all are going to like this. Cascade road is just plain cool. So are the parts of Wisner we are taking. I can't wait to run Blair and Ford roads. After talking with Rebecca tonight, we will be updating my original post regarding the route with any changes so no one gets confused.
My boys kept telling me to go faster. I told them they don't have to pay the ticket if I get one. Being Bedlington Terriers, they get a bit demanding sometimes. They told me once that I live in their world and allow me in it

Normally, I would suggest that we take Blair to River. However, they are closing river. As of today it is open but by Saturday it may not be. So for to 528 and then Griswold to Doty is the best option.
The drive was amazing. We ended up only hitting one winery as we took a detour that added a bit of time on the drive.
Timmer did a GREAT JOB. Thanks for all the hard work.
Hope everyone had as much fun as I did.

I had a blast
Yeah, the new guy here missed a turn
. I had a super time. I did not get to meet everyone, but I thank all those who extended a very warm welcome. The driving was outstanding. When Wellzy took the lead to get us back to where we were going, we were having allot of fun playing follow the leader at 80+ MPH
. Just wished I had a shift kit in this automatic LOL. The drive was superb.
During the trip my gas mileage went to &*%^. What's up with that
