That's what it sounds like when the battery dies on your car (at least a Mini)!!!
Then, it's a great story when the "fix it/jump" guys show up in a pick up truck w/o any flashlights (out in the suburbian woods).
No worries...just pitch black out...no worries also, because when the battery is shot in our cars, jumping seemingly isn't an option...however, EVERY electronic quirk known to man IS the option!!! Lights flashing, windows up and down, etc.
My little guy got taken home on a flatbed Sunday morning...I do think he enjoyed the ride though!
Felt like the pope or somebody, sitting up high and getting taken for a ride!
Get home (start it manually as I exit the flatbed ramp), get on a plane and go out of town, so there Mini sits, dead in the water, er, garage...until Thursday.
So, now I'm searching through NAM trying to find out what battery will fit in my baby...of course, just like all the threads on here, there are seemingly 10,000 posts of this, that & the other...all I want is a single answer!!!
Seemingly come to the conclusion of what the best bet is, after searching/reading many different posts on many different threads...of course, no battery around the corner, must go to Elyria (or wait until 3-5PM). $129 later (plus tax & battery terminal "goop", $140+), get it home, hooked up & lil' black beauty is up & running.
Original battery was SHOT!!! Just over ten volts when I took it into AutoZone...couldn't even test it since it was so low...did y'all know there are vent tubes on our batteries? CRAZY!!! Lot's of liquid in there doing it's power thing! I thought those days were over!
No real moral to the story other than, it died without any warning. When it did, seemingly no shot at jumping...just a little red flag to any/all of you if your car has the original battery in it and you've had it for four year (give or take).

Beardtrimmer...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...not touching that one...
Well, as far as Elyria is for me, I'm sure it's closer than Lake County!!!
Thanks for the info for future reference though!!!
