I am planning on coming down for the AMVIVIII from Bend, OR. Anyone have any recommendations for the route down I take? Not necessarily looking for the quickest or twistiest, just a nice drive down. I do not want to come down I5. Would prefer coming thru Reno or even Winnemucca.
Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
Look at coming down 395 for most of the route, its on the east side of the sierras, drop down thru Reno, then south to Bishop, then a short (~25 mi) very windy section to connect over to Nevada 95, and then a straight shot to vegas. Welcome to join me for the last stint, as is anyone else (hint to anyone from the Reno/ Tahoe area)

I usually go down the Thursday before too. Its only 3.5 hours or so from here, but from bend I would think its close to 10 plus. I came from Redmond to bishop once with a horse trailer and it took 12 hours, but the trailer slowed us up some. I'm not sure of my exact plans yet, its still 130+ days off .

But didn't it make you feel special?
Even though you were the only SG, I don't think I saw any genuine "twins". Almost every car at AMVIV this year had some kind of customization, even if it was only non-factory wheels. And that made it cooler. As a generalization, people who attend these kinds of events tend to be enthusiasts about their cars, and want to personalize them. Great to see!

I'll be there again this year, with a car! (crossing fingers) I'll also most likely be instructing at the Phil Wicks Driving School, I highly recommend doing it if you can (see write up: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=55148 ).
Can't wait to see everyone again, especially you AZ MINI's. Now, to Garden room or not to Garden room, that is the question .

Track day
Phil Wicks is doing the driving school at LVMS using the inside road course minus going on the oval track like some schools have done. Phil is also kicking off his North American Mini Cooper Championship Race Series the same day, more then likly on the outside road course. Phil will be handling all of the school sign-ups so stay posted to his website for further information. I will say this, first come, first served.

After requests from at least half a dozen people, I added an "as of registration count" to the AMVIV.com home page. I'll update it probably a couple of times a week (unlikely to be over weekends).
