Early look on the weather, looks great. Sunshine and upper 50's. Was in that area this morning, and yes the leaves are just beginning to bring a beautiful color to the mountain side. Looks like this will be a really fun trip.

Good , I am curious about what PB wants to post about Cheaha, I guess she hasn't figured it out yet .
We look forward to it, I think the bike riders I invited will be backing out, but I don't know for sure.

I tried to copy and paste an article from the B'ham News my husband told me about but I got a bunch of font coding so I ditched it! Argh!

http://www.bhamnews.com/archives/

I searched ......"Cheaha Roads"

It was about the roads being dangerous. We have been on them many many times before but the people we know that live there say they really need work. Bruce was concerned about our cars getting dings from the excessive gravel and potholes. We used to ride it on Harley's but not again til its fixed.

The residents are trying to have them repaired before winter set in.

Hey BZN BY, sorry about the delay on my reply.

4 of us went to Cheaha on April 1st this year & the road was in good shape. It was pretty smooth & no gravel flew. I read that article too & wondered what the hec they were talking about If they have since laid some gravel down we just can't ride each other's butts & we will be fine

p.s...I wonder if they are talking about the side roads off the main Cheaha road? Those side roads are nothing but dirt/gravel roads but the main Cheaha road is paved not gravelled. It is smooth enough to take the twisties spiritedly but it is only 1-1/2 lanes wide so you gotta keep an eye out for traffic

This road may be a bit unpleasant for motorcycles as it is a bit bumpy and the road surface and quality changes frequently, but it is a non-issue for cars.

What are the times again might be able to make it. Getting a sway bar put on Fri would be a good chance to try it out.

Any idea what time you all will crest Cheaha? Is there a specific turnaround point? May be that I can meet up if the window is right.

Drove that stretch a few months ago, so I'm with you, TT (feel free to let it ring a while). I'll have my radio also if I catch up. I'll phone you as I veer in that direction Sunday. Thanks for the info!

This may seem like a stupid question but is there protocol for "Mini motoring"?

Meaning, are there do's and don't's, good idea/bad idea.

I haven't ever done this with cars, only with a large group of Harleys.

If we get to make it, I want to be sure not to offend or be deemed a doofus

PB

I can't think of any. Someone will lead the pack & we just follow. Driving 3-wide is discouraged .

Do bring a 2-way radio if you have one (if you don't someone may have a spare for you to use). We communicate while driving on them. Other than that bring your camera, your mini, & yourself, that's it

Had a great time today (even though that evil Mr. Daylight Savings came & ate our day up too soon ). Really enjoyed it . Thanks to bzn by & jst4fun for being our fearless leaders. Petey is worn out, he is passed out majorly on the sofa

Another georgous day in Alabama with good friends! It sure was nice to see our Mississippi friends come over and go on most of the trip with us. I wish you guys could have stayed for the rest of it. Cheaha Moutain was as pretty as I have seen it in years. The road was a little gravely, but the scenary made it all worth while. I have the pictures uploaded to the website. Go take a look at a really fun day shared with good friends brought together by a little fun car. http://www.bamamini.com
