Glad you guys like 'em! We're going to have to cut off registration at 42 or so, and we're already at about 38 last count... this to keep the racing exciting and within the timeframe allotted! I have one cabrio blank left, may be able to make a few more if necessary. I'm really good at Greyhound Bus blanks... ;-)

We've got a good car this year. The guys in the shop has been working hard all winter getting ready for the Super Bowl of Pinewood Derby. We ran pretty well in our last race but got a little loose in some of the later runs. We've got a different aero package now and are looking forward to running in the front. Definitely a top 10 car. Gotta thank the good folks at Bubba's Homebaked Nut Rolls for helping sponsor the event this year. (Takes a sip of Coca Cola)

We're at FORTY TWO cars registered for this event (woo-hoo!), plus a few pre-sold at last year's event (please let me know if you pre-purchased a car), and we're cutting off registration at 45 in order to have a manageable event... going to be FUN!

How's everyone coming along?

I have been having lots of fun planning, shaping, sanding, and, finally, today painting. I had a theme all planned out and then found the cutest accessory and I had to change the theme. Now that I have started painted I am all committed to the current design. It is a good thing too. I am sure my husband was getting tired of being drug to various craft and hobby stores on the weekends (is this paint better than that paint? what about the paint from the last store? etc.) Cant wait to see what everyone else has come up with.

Thanks to DixonL2, Bubba's Homemade Nut Rolls and any other contributors! See you all in 39 days!!!

I think that I'm going to let my kids help me with mine. I only fear that it could end up looking like the cars in the Toyota racing commercials.

OK, everyone who ordered a car should have one by now - PLEASE let me know if you for some reason haven't received one and I'll respond!

UPDATES:
- We now have a THREE-lane track, with digital timing and scoring, and WILL have runoffs this year! Thanks to Colin for sourcing the track and timing equipment.
- I do have a calibrated digital scale for the weigh-in and we WILL cut the weight at the rules-communicated 5 ounce limit. I'll bring a drill and file in case anyone has to remove weight.
- I will bring graphite axle lube if anyone wants to top off prior to racing...
- We ARE bringing Bubbas Homebaked Nut Rolls! Not only that, we will ALSO have the Bubba's Homebaked Nut Roll FOUNDER with us, along with his fine selection of coffees and teas, and some sort of high-tech low-tech, portable coffeemaker that makes a FANTASTIC smooth tasty cup o'Joe...

I CAN'T WAIT!

Hey DixonL2,

Is it possible to get a Bubba's Homebaked Nut Roll T-shirt? My team would love to wear the colors of our sponsor.

The track is loaded on the Brave Little Trailer, and or happy caravan heads out tomorrow morning! While y'all know about internet and phone connections (or lack thereof) in the Fontana area, I'll try to check this thread during the week. I'm bringing graphite lube for those who don't have them, and a scale against those who'd like to, umm, run heavy...

HUGE thanks to sponsors Bubba's Homebaked Nut Rolls (and now COFFEE!), CooperFlags (AWESOME!!), PittStopMINI Club, and MiniBee (HUGE!!)

See you there

Mine has zero chances unless I get it put together.
Guess I know what I'm doing tonight.

Really looking forward to getting our Bubbas Rolls Pine Car Mini on the track. The team has put a lot of effort in building this car. Although we'd all like to win, I think we've got a top 5 or top 10 car. The first test run should give us a good idea of any changes we need to make to our set up. Thanks again to Bubbas, Cooper Flags, MiniBee and Pittstop Mini for sponsoring this event. (Takes a drink of Bubba's Coffee)

They're coming... they're coming....

Thanks to EVERYONE who made this event so much fun to put on. Aside from a few minor hiccups (and some ground clearance issues) all seemed to go reasonably well... if anyone has vids or photos please post up! Any feedback please share! Any suggestions, please PM me... it's a bunch of work to put this on and we really want things to go well!

HUGE THANKS to our Sponsors:
- CooperFlags !
- MiniBee (Jack Rowland) !
- MiniDoMore !
- The PittStopMINI Club

And, of course, Bubba's Homebaked Nut Rolls!

Here are a couple more group photos and action photos. Unfortunately, I didnt get many individual shots. If anyone wants a photo of The Flying Banana or Tom's car, let me know and I can take some. We also have some video but I have no idea how to post that. Will figure it out and post in a day or two.

Hey DixonL2...when are you sending out next years cars? I have an idea but I am going to need a lot of time for this one, lol!

Yeah, Barry, but you had the biggest gun!

As for next year... well.... to be brutally honest every year I look forward to the event, THEN... We cut out some FIFTY car blanks, I have my Lovely and Talented Wife (and Dragon Draggin' Spokesmodel) send them out, we find sponsors and worthy prizes (those Clubmen were kinda cool, huh? - and HUGE thanks to Jack at MiniBee and Brent at MiniDoMore!), we haul that huge track and all the paraphernalia down to the Dragon behind the Mini, we all wake up early - again - to set it all up, put up the COoperFlags banner (Thanks Cooperflags)... and before I sound likie a NASCAR driver...

... it's all worth it when these little rolling works of art come in, the smack talk starts, the Bubbas Roll, and everyone has a great time!

I may take preregistration for next year if anyone wants a kit (and if I can find the 3 that are banging around my house somewhere...), let me know!

Hope you all had as much fun as we did putting it on, it's a good time. Only next time, Barry, I am taking the microphone! ;-)
