MOTD accommodations wanted/available

We had reserved one of them, too, but ended up changing our reservation for a new one with heat, a/c, running water, and a working bathroom. Unfortunately, our stay there was cut short by the fire...but THAT is another story....

You may consider putting up your tent INSIDE that "rustic" cabin, especially when you see its condition. Some of our friends had
one last May, and spent as much time as possible away from it...they were constructed back in the 40s-50s, and not a lot had been
done to renovate the one they rented.

A falling tree branch took down a power line that started a fire that was brought undercontrol by several volunteers.
Due to no electrical power after that a few were displaced from their cabins.

[quote=cabriopilot;2626130]This is true, the RUSTic cabins are quite old and moldy but it beats camping if it's your only option.
I daresay she could still pitch her tent inside a Rustic Cabin...even to the point of driving the tent stakes into the flooring, as it's so bad that Fontana would NEVER know. That said, a tent INSIDE a Rustic Cabin might behoove Fontana to raise the price on future rentals, since it would DEFINITELY be construed as an upgrade!

Ok now I am just really nervous about this whole RUSTIC cabin thing, but I didn't get my mini until late last year and find out about the event until later so that was all they had left. I will chalk this year up to a new experience anyone know when they will take reservations for next year?!?!

But, to answer your question, sure, they will reserve for you next year, too.

Fontana Village has accommodations at the following levels of comfort: Good, Better and Best.
While the Rustic Cabins are not a 5 Star hotel, it will serve the purpose of adequate shelter.
When you find yourself at the main lodge you'll quickly realize that there are better accommodations
because of the newer facilities, exercise room, ice/soda machines, sauna, gift shop and restaurant.
And if you happen to be invited into one of the newer cabins you'll then see that they have all the
modern conveniences that the rustic cabins does not and for the most part are closer walking distance
to the center of the MOTD activities (less of a hill climb).
But all in all you have much better accommodations in that rustic cabin than someone staying at one
of the distant motels that I have heard stories about.
So the moral of this story is "Don't fret and book early".
They normally open registration for the following year about 375 days away or at least that's what they did last year.
You'll be fine...

MUShadd Did you cancel totally or are you saying that someone can take over your res.?
I am in need of a lodge room or cabin room. I can take over a res or split fees. Not picky, just need a bed, bath and roof. Tentatively, it will be two people. Unless, my GF can't make it. We are relatively quiet, so no threat of keeping anyone up all night.

5-6 years ago when the Willows were new, they were nice. They are "crailers". A combo trailer/cabin. Hopefully, if Fontana has kept them up, they will be 100% better than the rustic Dogwoods.
