Camping @ MOTD

From the talk on here last year, we thought the campgrounds were going to be packed. Once we got there, it was pretty sparse. There was plenty of room. I would try to find someone to agree to sharing with before just "showing up". I was open to letting someone share our spot last year until I got there and realized how much of our area was soft enough for the tent. Alot of our spot was pretty rocky. Our site backed up to the big hill opposite the water.

I camped last year, and planning on camping this year again since I haven't heard yet if some friends were able to get a cabin or not. I haven't made my reservation yet due to some financial issues this winter. I was wondering if I am unable to find a reservation, if someone wouldn't mind sharing their campsite with me.

Ditto for me, I would like to share a campsite if anyone is interested/has room? I'm only going to be there Thursday and Friday nights, but it's just me and probably just a small 2 person tent, so I won't take up much room. And I don't plan to be in the tent more than 6-7 hours a night, have to get as much drive time / other activities (maybe a little hiking) in as I can possibly cram into 48 hours.

Leif and I are arriving Friday, but we're happy to cram as many tents as will fit (keeps away the large carnivores) on our site. Whatever it is . . .
I'm assuming that at least one other tent will fit on our site, so Checkmate, since you were first, you're welcome to it if someone can confirm that there will be enough room.
I have, however, been known to decamp at 7am due to excessive rain. So if you don't want to be awakened that early by the ravings of someone who thinks tents should be waterproof by virtue of the fact that they're used out of doors then . . .
Oh, um . . . *ducks head* do any Fontana campers past know if there are electrical outlets in the shower building . . . ?

If interested in sharing/combining/offers, let me know. I spoke with Fontana and they said if you just show up, there should be room. I rather have plans and have it secured. Going with the flow for now.

+1 more to all of the above -- I would've made reservations after the great experience last year, but with my job it's never possible to tell what'll be going on far in in advance.

PS. As I did last year, I'd of course chip in to the "site owner/host" on the cost of the site - cash or beer.

Change of plans already -- I'd be there Thurs. and Fri. night (have to get there in time for casino night ) . Please let me know if anyone has room.

this is true . . . there's plenty of grass area even to the sides where one could set up. I too would like to have plans secured though . . . so that I don't end up setting up near the one person who happens to mind sharing their site.

Were you on a waiting list? or did you just call out of the blue?

Last year I stayed in a cabin dining room; camping sounds like a great option this year. I might be able to "just show up" and find a spot, but I like a little more traveling guarantee than that.
So, besides my lovely and entertaining self and my MINI, "Calcifer," I can bring the following to tempt campsite hosts: a 12x12 pop-up shelter, an electric kettle, mad campfire skills, and a box of cookies.
I am also completely willing to split/contribute to the $ for the site.

Blue Devils and Terps I can deal with, no Carolina fans are welcome however.

I'll be a duke fan and a terp fan for the weekend
Anything for a small patch of grass...
FYI... I am just by myself on this one... Small one person tent with a "MINI"
so if any of you that gets a spot and is willing to share.. I'll have beer to share and money to throw down on the cost of the site...

Got home from work to find my campsite confirmation in the mail. Eager2own, you're more than welcome to share space. I'll be arriving sometime Thursday afternoon/evening. Arrival time depends on if I go into the office in the morning, and how many interstate-free detours I take. . .
Hmmm, have to think on that one. Didn't state your allegience but you're from Goldsboro. Oh wait, beer to share, maybe I can make exceptions.
Seriously, my tent is only 9 x 7, this is my first MOTD and time to Fontana, but as long as there's room on the campsite, I'm game.
Now for the hard part- waiting for almost 2 more months.
