There are restaurants you can eat at around there too or if you are staying in a cabin I think most fo them have full kitchens

Also at the Fontana Village website it shows they have on site a General Store w/groceries, an ice cream shop, a fast food restaurant, & another restaurant that serves breakfast buffets & dinner. Of course with all the Minis there I bet it will be croweded .

This is my 1st time too so I will be hunting down some other good places to eat also.

For those staying in the inn, the breakfast buffet is right down the hall. (I loved going down there in my MINI pj's! ) 6 or 7 bucks, if I recall correctly. It wasn't very big, but what was there was good eatin'! And they varied it by day.

They might not have been. They just got posted a few days ago.

There is also a full grocery in Robbinsville with just about everything you could want for cooking. There are also some decent restaurants in town. Tapoco Lodge also has a restaurant that will be open and is closer to Fontana than town. There are lots of eating options!

Also, right at Deal's Gap, the beginning of the Tail of the Dragon, there's a grill open for breakfast, lunch, and (I think), dinner.

My favorite place to eat is Tootie's which is on NC 28 just south of Fontana. You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner there. And on Friday night you can get all you can eat catfish with live bluegrass music.

I love grits - real ones. Maybe we should get a group to go over for breakfast on an 'early morning run' assuming the Home Place is not at Fontana (which I seem to remember it is not)

I agree! If I eat them, I have to put butter and sugar and cinnamon on them, and the places I've been to in the south seem to be highly insulted by my behavior

You ever had real "low country" shrimp and grits? Hmmmmmmm, maybe if you come to the motorcycle cabin one night, I can make them.

The Jarrett House in Dillsboro has Shrimp 'n Grits on the menu. Sounds great. My Mom used to make grits for us. Usually accompanied by ham and ham gravy.

Fish n' Grits are week night specialty at many local joints on the Gulf Coast. The fish is usually fried fresh mullet. Its great comfort food!
