Midnight III
I had a blast on this last year, even with the super-long wait at Tabcat Bridge while the Miata accident was cleared... in fact, I enjoyed the wait immensely - very surreal "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" atmosphere!
Count me in for sure... and Sally (ssallykat) will be riding with me as a Midnight on the Dragon newbie.

LOL!.. I was born and raised in FL, I know exactly what you're talking about.. PMSL!...
I just signed up, I'm going to try to make it to the midnight run, provided I can figure my way around down there.. I'll be driving down from New Hampshire, so it's going to be a little crazy..LOL!.. no place to stay, just registered as of about 20 minutes ago.. I'm just totally winging it this time around..
This is actually my first NAM post.. I'm usually over on MINI2, Oceanstatemini or MAMA (Monadnock Area MINI Assoc.) forums... I'm hoping this is as much a loose-knit, fly by the seat of your pants group as the New Englanders..

okay, back on topic.. yes, practice on this road will be good, but it's kinda like the Nuerbergring in Germany, don't get too comfortable with the course, it's just too long to be able to remember it all.. seems like a new drive every time.. My advice is take it easy, screw the people around you if they get frustrated, worst case, let them pass if you're not comfortable with the pace... this road is no joke.. in some places 30 mph can be really dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.. I plan on taking it within the limits of my driving and not exceeding beyond that...
I also hapen to remember there is a heavy police presence in some areas so we should keep that in the back of our minds as well..
Rally lights are very helpful on the Midnight Run! And everyone needs to ALWAYS be sure to stay in their lane. There are very few turnouts and even less shoulder on the Dragon. It is very unforgiving, and demands complete focus and respect.

Actually I would say rally lights are only beneficial if the car with them
is the in the front of a group of other cars. Otherwise the guy with them
will be blinding the cars in front of him.

between that and the switchbacks....eyes on the road,
you don't even notice the rally lights from the kar behind you
yep, few turnouts and sometimes, people that are a little too heavy on the break wind up with glazed pads by about mile nine.. better to keep it in a lower gear and let the tranny slow you down a bit...

agokart's looked like that at the Midnight Run two years ago!

We pull off at Tabcat, pop our bonnets, keep headlights on like little Dragon MINI klieg lights, and let the brakes cool, whilst we hang out and visit.
I'm super excited as this is my rookie year! I've been practicing on my little "Midnight on Holy Hill" excursions. (read: all by my lonesome driving sessions)
