How to reset the Service Indicators

I never remember so I have to look this up every time, I thought I'd create a FAQ entry so it would be easy to find. Condensed and edited from a few forum posts and tested on my R56 GP2:

Service Indicator Resets
  1. Turn ignition on - close the door, insert the key and press the start button without pressing on the clutch or brake. Wait a few seconds for the displays to initialize.
  2. Press and hold the trip reset button (right button on the tach), release it when a service indicator icon shows in the upper display - about 4 - 5 sec. (If you wait too long it will show VIN on the lower display.)
  3. The upper display in the tach will show a service item icon, for example the oil can for the oil change interval. The lower display in the tach will indicate the remaining time or mileage left for that service item. See your owner’s manual for all the icons.
  4. Press the BC (board computer) button on the end of the turn signal stalk repeatedly to cycle the display through all of the condition based service items.
  5. To reset the desired item, press and hold the BC button again until the lower screen says “RESET”
  6. Release, press and hold the BC button once more. During this time a clock symbol will appear. After a few seconds the procedure is complete.
  7. This resets only the item displayed in the upper window. Repeat the procedure for any additional service reset needs

Thanks. Last time I tried this it took a few attempts to get into the svc menu.
Also reset my trip odo, which was annoying.

Does/can this also reset the triangle between the total odo & trip odo?

The triangle around the ! is the "service needed" indication so this procedure should reset it.
