My oil pressure sensor on my 2017 Countryman has been broken for some time now and I have driven it for about 6000 miles since it was broken. I took it in for an oil change today and the mechanic told me it looks like I might have driven over something and damaged the sensor, and it needs to be replaced.

I am trying to figure out whether this is something that actually needs to be replaced or not. Is there any harm to driving without it, or should I get it replaced?
