Rotate Steering Wheel Volume Control Switch

Has anyone seen posts or been able to rotate the volume control switch in the steering wheel so it actually orients in a way that makes sense? I'm scared to mess with it without knowing since airbags scare me to death :P

I'm assuming you mean having the volume buttons on top/bottom and the Next/Previous buttons on left/right?

It would make even more sense for media controls to be on the left side of the steering wheel, but maybe that’s just me.

I don't mind the left right, other manufacturers do that too.
What I really wish it had instead is the scroll wheel in the center of the buttons for volume, like Audi does. So much easier/quicker than single press buttons.

Yes the volume and track controls. It just needs a 90 CCW turn and it would be perfect.

I was curious about this, and it looks like it would be a difficult thing to do. You should be electrically savy if you were to attempt it.

Steering wheel PN can be found here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=61_4808
The switch PN is 61316814567
The photos below aren't the exact PN, but it'll give you an idea of what the switches look like from the rear. I assume you'd have to open it, from there, you may be able to rotate the switches. Let's assume you can't rotate the switch. You could probe the wire harness coming out to see which switches correspond to which wires and then rewire it accordingly.

This is one of those things where the effort involved to "fix" it to what you are accustomed to, far exceeds the effort involved in your brain getting accustomed to the new way.
Seriously. It might seem weird at first but a couple weeks later and you don't even think about it. Put that effort into some go-fast mods or something.
