FOG Lights 2018 JCW Countryman

Hello all -
Didn’t realize that new JCW Countryman didn’t have fog lights until we got it home the other day. (In our defense we went to the dealership to order a 2019 All4 S Countryman - hadn’t considered that 2018 JCW wouldn’t have them). Anyway, we live at an altitude between 3500-4000ft and found that fog lights on our Audi Q5 are very helpful in the pea soup fog.

So, a couple of questions:
Has anyone added after market LED “driving lights” to this model? Mini dealer is offering to install for the price of my first born child.
What is your experience driving with the standard LED lights in dense fog? Maybe we don’t need fog lights?

Thanks for any advice!

Welcome to the forum

My Countryman didn't come with fog or LED headlights. I put in LED canbus headlights, used the BimmerCode program and have been happy ever since. Plenty light at night and we get thick soupy fog in the country, with the low beams I have plenty of vision. I wasn't going to put a second on the house to convert head lights or add fog. Something to consider.

I think no fogs on the JCW is the compromise for getting more air to cool the turbo charge. We rarely use fogs on other vehicles and they are not high up on the mod list for our Countryman. The LED headlamps are GREAT; I wish all the lamps were LED instead of incandescent though.

Thank you both for your replies!
I guess I’ll see how it goes. It is scary to walk in the fog up here, much less drive in it. No doubt the LED lights are great for their brightness - but brightness is not helpful when it just illuminates the white wall of fog ahead of you.
