Here is a intriguing 'feature'. If someone is in the car, don't lock it from the outside. Like with the lock button on the outside door handle or the key FOB.
Because about 30-40 seconds later when the car goes into alarm, it looks like toyko on a saturday night !
Went to china-mart and I went in to pick up a couple things real quick. Wifey decides to stay in Mini to read tab. I get out and lock the car on the outside door handle. Its Saturday night, & go in store. Key FOB in my pocket, nothing else, nothing to push the panic button.
I get just inside the store, and I hear a 'siren ' of sorts, turn around and the headlights, park lights, the headlight trim LEDs, are flashing, hell, the inside lights are flashing.
I unlock the car with the key fob and it stops. I do not relock. All is quiet.
40 seconds later I am in the store, I get a text message that the car is freaking out again, come out and turn off alarm.
Sure enough same thing. Key fob was in shirt pocket that time, nothing else.
I go out and leave the key FOB with my wife this time and she is mad as fire. Car stays unlocked this time, people giving it a wide berth.
I finally get what we came for and no more incidents , but she didn't lock the car either. Sheriff deputy stopped on the second series of alarm and asked her if she was ok, which was nice. Told her to put the front tags
on ( Virginia) .
Yeah I don't know what was the no-no was with locking the car with someone inside?
She didn't have her key fob. She shouldn't have needed it either.
strange. We're going to test this weekend and see if we can replicate, and figure out the offending characteristic(s).
Hadn't had any of our other vehicles act like that. only reason I had locked it when I got out is because she doesn't pay attention to her surroundings when she is reading sometimes.
anyone else see this type behavior ?

There is an interior motion sensor along with a separate tilt alarm, both of which are armed when locking (along with the rest of the alarm sensors). They can be deactivated by pressing "lock" once more within ten seconds of locking the vehicle. At least, that's how it works on our F54.
As for the second activation, not sure -- on another vehicle that I own, the system re-arms itself automatically after being disarmed if none of the doors are opened within a certain time period...

Then I took my Key fob out to the car, opened the door and handed the Key Fob to her. She never locked it, and it didn't re-arm since I opened the passenger side door.
I have to remember that second press of the button on the door handle or the key fob.
It was operator error.
Cool Thanks, 1200K ,
Good to know.
These new cars are sometimes very smart or very stupid. You'd think the seat sensor would understand the passenger never left the car and thus not arm the motion sensor.
Another stupid feature my wife has almost been crushed by the rear gate when loading things in the car, her foot goes under the rear bumper because she is loading something and needs to get close, the rear lid starts to come down on her. Stupid. You'd think the rear parking proximity sensors would indicate someone is standing too close to close the rear lid.

One time I was at the gas station, with the filler door is on the wrongs side
I was opening the gas cap, and I guess I moved a foot near the rear, and under the car, all of a sudden the hatch opened ! LOL I was at the rear corner, but never noticed my feet under the car. Surprised the crap out of me. I had the key Fob in my pocket.
Pretty wild, no one else was at the gas station at the time. I do like the small 'pin hole' for lack of a better word, that holds the gas cap. That is convenient.
On the Jeep wrangler it just hangs down against the paint. annoying.
have a good one !
