I did just get a message though that it will be done production and going to paint on the 26th. and that my VIN will be available in a couple of days. Time will tell.
That said, I would have thought the car would exit production after paint ... perhaps it enters another stage such as "assembly" or something.
I mean really, it's 2017! Where is the real-time webcam?
I got a VIN number today!!! The paperwork from the dealer states production started on 9/19 and it has a estimated production date of 9/28/17. Thanks for all of the posts on how to track it. I'll now check the bimmer.work website on a neurotic basis.
Congrats - that is awesome! I wonder how you got a VIN and I am still waiting for mine??
If your car has entered production it has to have a VIN. Have you tried the MINI Owner's lounge using your production order number? If you track your mini on that site, select "REVIEW ORDER DETAIL" you should see some build specs about your CM and also your VIN.

I emailed my dealer this morning and he sent me a printout from their internal system that included my VIN. He sent me the same printout right after I ordered to double check the specifics on the order. It's a cool little print out that shows dates and times for all parts from order to ready for you.
The production cycle includes the following:
Production started - mine lists 9/18 @ 7:02, I'm currently here in the process
Entry body shop
Entry paint shop
Entry assembly
Assembly
Assembly finish / quality check
I figure I'll email about once a week and be a pest. I can't stop myself.
I ordered a Countryman S E All4 back on 9/9, got my production number on 9/13, on Mini Owner Site, I still can't register, and when I call in to 866-Ask-Mini, it says "scheduled for production, with no confirmed production date" Any idea of how long it take from getting a production number to being able to register online? And any idea for a production number issued in early September how long until it will be built?

From other members experience, production # is assigned about a week prior to start. Some members that ordered later in July and early September are waiting for mid to late October production start. Refer to "kwolfman" link several threads back for a guideline on how process goes. As he said, it's a bit outdated but still pretty much follows the process.
Congratulations and nice spec's Enjoy the journey!

Congrats! Love that Lapis blue. I too got the Chesterfield British oak and am so looking forward to it.
I placed my order back at the end of July and was given the production number on the printout when I ordered. This may have been due to the dealer replacing one of their stock orders with mine as it was a Priority 1. They were able to tell me when I ordered that it would be approx. 2 weeks before production started. This was fairly accurate and I was able to log into the OL about a week later.
My experience schedule was:
7/29: Ordered; production number provided
8/7: Able to log into OL with production number; status on order
8/15: Status update: In production, est. completion 8/23, VIN generated
8/21: In production, est. completion 8/25 (pushed back 2 days)
8/25: Production completed
9/6: Loaded onto "Polaris Highway" ship in Zeebrugge
9/22: Estimated arrival to port of entry (Galveston,TX)
Congrats! Why wait for Monday? Go there on Saturday and pick that puppy up
I was hoping it would be ready tomorrow! MA said it will be ready to take possession Monday morning. I'm going there tomorrow to check it out thoroughly. Will take some photos
I ordered 9/9. I received a production number on 9/13 and was able to log into Owner's Lounge on 9/21. I have a VIN and am in production. And don't forget bummer.work. Waiting is so fun!!

That's great and congrats Some MA's are great and answer your emails or phone calls. Others, not so much Sounds like you have a good MA to work with so your journey through the process should be fun
It's exciting, frustrating and at times stressful. In the end it will be worth it though because you'll get the MINI personalized to yours specs!
Thanks This forum and it's members got me through my first time ordering to my specs. Lots of support here and made the journey more fun!
Love seeing everyone's specs but especially the photos when that day finally arrives and your MINI has landed at the dealership and you actually get to see it and drive it home
My MINI was loaded off the ship this morning and is finally on US soil!
Currently it's on the way to the VDC - which is just a stone's throw from the ship. The dock is at the top of the image and the VDC is the buildings at the center.
Spoke with my MA yesterday, about one more week for it to go through VDC and delivery to my dealer before I can drive it home!

That's a happy feeling to land on US soil, huh Your wait is almost over
For those looking for floor mats, Weathertech now has them for the 2018. Just ordered mine- by the time mine Melting arrives, (around 10/15) we could certainly have some snow in Colorado.
Back Story: Got a 2004 MINI Cooper. Married in 2008. Had to part with the Cooper in 2009 because #1 - Wife couldn't drive a manual transmission very well. And #2 - Needed an SUV (Compact size though). We purchased an SUV that year. Two years later, MINI debuts the Countryman. Oh well.
Fast forward to 2017...
We went to the Chicago Auto Show to look at the new SUVs - including the redesigned Countryman. We were not so sure about the size though. Months later, we started having problems with our SUV. Scheduled a test drive of the Countryman. Just wow. it took me back to my MINI Cooper days. Only this is "slightly" larger. Placed an order on 9/9. It will have Apple CarPlay. Got the VIN today. Tried to look up the VIN on my iPhone, but the Track My MINI uses Flash? Hmmm.
Reluctantly used my work computer to look it up. "Ready for Transport" it says.
From a movie quote:
"Just when I thought I was out...they PULL me back in."
