My personal favorites from Colorado are:

Vanilla Porter from Breckenridge Brewery

90 Schilling from Odells

YUM!!

Whenever I drink either one, I think to myself, "Why on earth have I been drinking anything other than this?!" They are both so delicious.

So, for those of you coming in from areas lacking either of these wonderful brews, I encourage you to try one!

I plan on bringing some Brew from Omaha and am wondering what is the most popular to bring, I will only have Growlers so dont want to bring a whole growler and end up having 1 or 2 people try it.

here is what i am thinking
half gallon growlers

Honey Rasberry Ale
Capitol Premium Pale Ale
India Pale Ale
Scotch Ale
Blackstone Stout

Also about how much do people bring?
thanks

For the Brewswap

all we ask is a 6-pack of your favorite, $3, and a bunch of cheer. We will provide snacks.

There are a lot of us who will contribute but not drink much, so there should be plenty to choose from.

Do what you are comfortable and happy with and that will surely be fine...

Thanks,

Jonathan

Will only a six-pack be enough to go around?

Glad you asked. We have some parameters:

Please keep in mind that running an event that involves alcohol is, by definition, a challenge. A few notes:
  • CMR Copper Mountain Resort has it's own liquor license. We have to act always in respect of that.
  • We are using the Parking Structure, not an area where CMR or the Village normally serves.
  • We have investigated pulling a 'special events permit' but have been advised that this is not needed iffffff.....
  • We have very strict limitations on what we do, where, and how. Meaning, we have permission to allow pp to bring in beer, but not to serve it or sell it ourselves. That is a given, but we have a strict geographical area to control.
  • All attendees will sign our waiver, like it or not.
  • There will be no drinking 'games'
  • We have promoted and promised this event as a 'brew-swap" or exchange so that is the permission we secured. I will not say at this point that you should not bring girlie stuff. But our preference is to stay in the 'craft realm' which is where we want to be. Basically, I have some good beer that I want to exchange for yours. Taste it.
  • No beer of any kind will leave the structure. Don't even ask about open containers. The answer is already NO.
Hey, we don't like rules either, but we play by them. We have had extremely gracious hosts at Copper, and we want to be invited back. We created no trouble last year and we don't want to start now. All we ask is that....you follow our simple rules.

Thanks for understanding...

Jonathan

So, if I swap 6 for 6, do I have to drink all 6? This could get interesting!

WARNING: Those that bring wine coolers, or low-gravity, mass-production beers like Poors, Filler Lite, Mudweiser, etc., will be subject to public ridicule and sentenced to working at the MITM car wash station...

It would be nice if everyone would POST

what they are bringing. Remember, we recommend, suggest and encourage the so called microbrew, craft beer, or specialty malt. We discourage use of terms like "Bud" "Mich" "PBR" "Lite" and (egad) "Coors".

Note that we encourage you to use and support the CMR Copper Mountain Resort liquor store, located on the side facing the highway, not far from Starbucks (see the resort map link at the left). They carry lots of the good local stuff like Fat Tire, Breckenridge, Flying Dog, and more.

Other places to stop? There are stores in Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, and Breckenridge - all on the way here. Also and of course Vail, Leadville, and Fairplay for those of you coming from the south.

Me? I like Moose Drool. Have a 6pak chillin as we speak....come swap me.

And as always, please use good common sense. We have a very specified (and marked) area within which we have agreed to conduct this event. We ask your support of our commitment and of our hosts at CMR in minding the simple rules...open containers only in this area, but not out. You will sign our waiver anyway when you register.

I was thinking of some Roswell Alien Amber, but if the consensus is for local, I can do that too.
Hmmm....Moose Drool. Sounds interesting. Or sickening; we'll see, I guess.

Alien Amber is perfect.

I only posted what I did for those who did not want to travel cross country with bottles clinking. I did that with 6 cs of Moose Drool all the way to the Dragon. I am re-thinking that strategy.

Bring on the aliens. And one of those cool masks to trade.

BrewSwap Logistics:

When you register for the event and pick up your Drivers and Passengers packets at the Parking Structure:
  • Please be sure to ALSO check in for the Brewswap if you will attend.
  • All attendees must sign a waiver
  • Please review our guidelines on where we can and cannot have our Brews and Swap them
  • Feel free to ice yours down - we will have plenty of provisions for that for you
  • You will get a name tag at the BrewSwap event (distinguishes you from others, all of whom have event badges also)
This is easy and fun. Please don't go for a drive afterwards. Give your keys to someone you love and plan to sit and enjoy the cool evening.

Evening temps have been in the 60s this week....

Jonathan,

I know you guys are stressing a bit when it comes to including any al-key-hall and an automobile event. The easy thing to do would have been to not even attempt a beer swap. I'm sure it was a bit of an uphill battle to pull it off. Thanks for jumping thru the hoops to make it happen...
-Barry
PS -- I was thinking about donating a bomber of barley wine for the door prize giveaway after the Vendor Dinner, assuming there will be another door prize giveaway... Are you able to accept or does this cause problems with the sponsors and/or is it an alcohol issue?

Barley Wine

Barry, we are happy to have your donation. We can do it any way you wish - you can give it to someone at the swap or, we can make it a vendor giveaway (sort of) and put a box out and call it from the dealership or NMM or whatever.

But we have boxes where pp will put their tickets for all other giveaways. And we can easily do one more.

Send me a short description and a note WHO you want this to be FROM and we will do it at the vendor dinner as you describe.

Send it to my email jsouz@allstate.com and I can get it to Rick quickly, who has made all the boxes.

If anyone would need a drive after this i would be happy to do that. I cant drink because of an alergy. This has come in handy several times over the years my friends love having someone they know can drive so they dont have to draw straws to see who gets to do it LOL.

Now that's what I call

A Real American Hero.

Someone you have never met, offering to keep you out of a jam, when the only thing you have in common is...a car. Just so you can have fun, and she cannot.

No shortage of MINI friends here, huh?

There are a number of good brews

available right in Copper Mountain Resort itself. Check this thread later today for a complete list...and if you don't want to drive with bottles, well pick them up when you are here.

Thanks,

Here is what is available right in Copper Mountain Resort

at Snowbridge Liquors. Check your map, it is easy to find. Stop by and see Kathryn Anderson, proprietor. She has laid in a good supply of all the following for those of you who need a choice for the BrewSwap: (or just to enjoy in the comfort of your own room, tho I cannot imagine why you would be there)

Dillon Dam Brewery www.dambrewery.com
  • Sweet George's Brown
  • Dam Straight Lager
  • Dam Straight Extra Pale Ale
Boulder Brewing Company www.boulderbeer.com
  • Singletrack Copper Ale
  • Hazed and Infused Dry Hopped Ale
Breckenridge Brewing Company www.breckenridgebrewery.com
  • Avalanche Amber Ale
  • Vanilla Porter
New Belgium Brewing Company www.newbelgium.com
  • Fat Tire Amber Ale
  • Sunshine Wheat
  • Skinny Dip Summe Ale
Molson Coors (forget that part)
  • Blue Moon
  • Honey Moon
Flying Dog Brewery www.flyingdogales.com
  • Doggie Style Pale Ale
  • In Heat Wheat
Check them out. If you have never had a good Colorado microbrew, you are in for a nice surprise. We have plenty to choose from, drive right in and get yours, then join the BrewSwap.

See you soon.

So I'm thinking of bringing a mixed six with the following favs:

. Working Class Stout - Ska Brewing Company, Durango
. Laughing Lab Scottish Ale - Bristol Brewing Company, Colorado Springs
. Chocolate Stout - Ft. Collins Brewery, Fort Collins

Can't wait!

Oh and of course I'll be bringing some Guinness (though not from Colorado).

That's the whole point of the thing

Bring what you want, enjoy what you like. Meet new friends, check out the MINIs.

Life is Good. Too bad those guys don't have a dog peeing on the tire of a MINI. Say....can you cut and paste one of those for me???
