Hopefully they will work quick enough to beat storm coming in. If they get your MINI cleared off, throw a tarp over it to protect it from more snow.

We have tow trucks coming from the body shop at noon to get the cars. The guys said they will be done by then, so we shall see.

Here are the first photos from under the carnage:

Yes to the permit, no the inspection. Dad keeps saying it doesn't matter, but I feel as though when the insurance company finds out they will be a lot more hesitant to pay for anything.

Ouch :( my sympathies are with you--I hope insurance works everything out for you in the end.

Last year when we had that snowstorm in Vancouver (could've use that this year...) I remember taking duct-taped together pool cleaning poles to shove snow off our patio roof (flat-ish) because we were worried about exactly this. :( Had to do it several times a day to prevent it building up.

If the snow was wet, that's easily 2 tonnes.

I guess it's sort of better that the car is a convertible... right?

Hope all goes well with the insurance company, though they will look at inspection records to the best of my knowledge.

Alright. Here are the last photos from home. Everything else will be coming from the shops.

Windshield is shattered:

Roof is definitely gone:

A-Piller is cracked and suffered some bad damage, but only on the drivers side:

And this one has me worried, does anyone know if this is normal?

Hang in there! That looks totally amazing concidering where it has been. If the frame is not damaged too much should be a qiuk fix. Hard to tell with the snow. I can't believe how little damage was done. That car beside it saved it's life!

So sorry to see/hear about your beautiful S cabrio . Looks like you escaped major damage, I don't know - can't tell about the A pillar. Hope you are able to get her fixed and back motoring again soon.

Generally I like the snow, but we've been hit badly here in Richmond too.........34-36" at my house over the last 45 days or so .

Believe it or not, but the Altima is not nearly as bad as you would think! It definitely shows where the roof hit, but, it could certainly be worse.

We are thinking right now that none of the cars will be totaled. I am kind of on the fence about if that is good or not for the MINI. There is some snow inside of the MINI, which is worrying me that I'll be playing 'find the electrical gremlin' over the next couple years. Time will only tell.

Vacume out the snow with a shop vac before any can melt. Should be ok, unless you are talking inched down the dash.

A good body shop will take care of all your problems. Good idea taking all those pics. Take some of the snow in the car.

Alright, just heard back from the body shop yesterday. Dents in the DS rear quarter panel, DS door, and scratches on the DS front fender. The DS mirror mount is broken. The windshield is busted, as is the black plastic thing that goes across the top of the windshield and both A-Panel covers. The interior top supports are crushed, though the top itself is not punctured, torn, scratched. I am fighting with the insurance company to get the top replaced, as I do worry about its future integrity due to the collapse. Current ETA is about 2 weeks at the body shop then another week or so at the MINI Dealership putting the new top on. (I didn't want the body shop to deal with the roof since they are so expensive to replace and finiky.)

I havn't received the estimate yet, so don't know the total cost yet.

Glad to see you're doing it intelligently with proper people doing what needs to get done. Even if it costs a bit more to do you'll be much happier you got it done by the right people.

I just came across this thread today, OMG, I'm so sorry to learn about the storm damage to your family's house & vehicles. Mother Nature can definitley be a b*tch. I know this is cliche, but property can be repaired & replaced, thank goodness no people or pets were killed. Even your emotional trauma will heal over time. You will appreciate your motoring even more once you're back in the driver's seat; here's hoping all the paperwork and repairs go smoothly for you.

Just got the call from the body shop. Alyssa suffered $4447.34 worth of damage (parts and labor.) $3001.46 of which is body work, the other $1445.88 is attributed to the damage to the convertible top. The body shop says they will be done by 3/9, so I should be motoring again by mid-March.
