Most have already said anything I might have come up with--they certainly conveyed my sentiments. Really sorry about this. All the woulda, couldas, and shouldas in the world couldn't have seen this storm coming. I feel really bad for you! Sorry about your trauma...

Wow! that is lame. Sorry to see it. Weird thing is, this same thing happened to a good buddy of mine who is a member on here. His poor car suffered cracked windshield, massive dents all over the body, creases in the roof.... terrible situation.

Hope all goes well in the end! it'll be back to normal in no time!

Dang!!! I'm so sorry to see that. A lot of car ports fell in our last rain storm here in cali because all of the water made the ground soaked, and then the wind pushed trees over. I hope insurance claims go smoothly for you.

Ouch! That would definitely suck to wake up to. Was there any sign that the structure was weak before the snow?

Here's something to cheer you up:

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Todays primary goal is to get as much snow off the remaining structure as possible, so that we can see exactly what we are dealing with. Once we do that, we will come up with a plan of attack to getting it off without causing anymore damage.

To Justin, no it seemed to be in great condition. We were even working under it (moving the fence) yesterday. It looks like one of the support beams gave way (on the far side of from the house) and when that happened the remaining 9 couldn't take the load anymore.

No pun intended, but my feelings are crushed for you. Not just sorry for your MINI, but your parents cars as well. God's speed on fixing everything.

Here are some more pictures as we dug out.

Here is how deep the snow ended up being on the roof:

We aren't sure where the other half of this beam is. But it broke just in front of my MINI, it doesn't look like its sitting on the roof:

Without being sure, it looks like the roof missed my bonnet. It could have hit then slid though:

Looks like all the windows are in tact, with the exception of the windshield, which cracked down low, and snow is sitting on the dashboard:

Tomorrow contractors are coming out to cut this thing apart and take it away. Hopefully they get here before the next 10-12" get here tomorrow night.

Each picture made me cringe, but amazingly, it sort of looks like you might have come out with much less damage than expected. I hope by some miracle that's the case...

Doesn't look like it did too much damage but it might be too early to tell That Altima's boot is all screwed up though.

The contractors arrived and they are currently tearing apart the remnants of the carport.
