It's official: the British Pantry is out. I called today to find out if we could get reservations and they are totally booked for the 14th. On the other hand, there's no way that we could fit all of us into the British Pantry, and the weather is getting a bit cold, so...

I am looking into the Hunter's Head Tavern (THANK YOU for the suggestion Brian0758!). It's only a few miles out of our way, but I can modify our route to get us there without going too out of our way (as if that would be a problem!)

My apologies if this is a deal breaker for anyone. Hopefully we'll be able to do a trip to the BP in the Spring.

We have a new restaurant!!! Thanks to Brian0758's excellent suggestion, we will be trying out a tavern in Upperville, VA, called Hunter's Head Tavern ( website | map ).

Here is a link to a scan of their menu. They don't have it online, so I picked one up today to make sure they had good food. It appears that they have something for everyone, including all SHEPHERD PIE fanatics.

Did the route end up all paved? I'm on of those guys who won't do gravel in my MINI...

 

I believe that it is all paved. I finished planning it on Sunday, but there is a short stretch of road in the middle of the second half of the run that is an unknown. I'll be running the route on Saturday morning and will update the route to bypass that section if ends up having any amount of gravel.

However, be assured, there will be none when we run it on Sunday. Wanna come? Please sign up and let me know how many will you be.

We will meet at the Wegmans at:

Please arrive early if possible, but by 10:30 AM if not possible, so that we can leave as soon as possible, possibly nearly on time. We have a reservation for the restaurant at 1:00 PM and are likely to have to stop for 20-30 minutes for our pit stop in Purcellville, judging by the size of the group.

As per the image below, park at the top of the Wegman's lot (yellow "X"). That way we will look like a fleet of MINIs setting sail on some great voyage, which of course we are. It will be an impressive sight!!

Meet inside the Wegmans on the second floor. As you enter the store, near where the red "X" is shown in the image, below, turn to your right and go up the stairs. We will congregate at the tables at the top of the stairs.

 

Just wondering, why meet inside Wegmans?

 

Guess I'm just a creature of habit. The first run I attended, we met inside. It gave everyone an opportunity to get coffee and socialize a bit before the run.

Plus, you never know what the weather is going to be like outside. It looks like it will be nice in the forecast, but you know how reliable those are.

Anyone absolutely opposed to meeting inside can meet in the parking lot.
