I went with AB after saying I would never have a black car again. Silver is hard to find on the lots, here anyway. That was my first choice. I love the AB and it loves my California Duster in the back storage bin.

I had it lowered last week and saw it rolling for the first time when the installer took it for a check drive. It looked so good rolling all shiny and low.

He owns a BMW performance shop. When he got back he said "I am seriously thinking about getting one of these".

Cutter- the stripes look great! I am going to have my flat black sport stripes put on as soon as I find someone who can ensure that they go on straight...

I have the dark silver. Check out my pics. I've since add a nice tint to it. Look a lot better with the tint. Black is very cool too though. Basically you can't go wrong.

Go for the Astro Black. I get comments from people every week on the color. Yes, it is hard to keep clean. But it is looks so good when it is clean. Check out photos in my gallery.

Ha, it really depends on the light! Also - when I had my yellow taillights on, it looked blue from behind, but now with the white/clear ones, it looks much more black.

I like to thing of it as my metalicblackblueandsometimessmokedgray car.

I'm a big fan of Astro Black...but I'm biased .

I also had a Dark Silver MCS, and I loved that as well. To me though, the dark silver just doesn't look as good on the R56 as it did on the R53, dunno why.

The wife and I wanted either Pepper White or the Silver walking into the dealership. They had an AB in the lot and she LOVED it. Can you guess what coler we ordered? I love the color also.

Monotone coopers mean that you aren't taking advantage of something FREE from MINI.

And MINI RARELY gives you anything for free. You have to pay and pay and pay!

Seriously folks, MIB was a 2006 Astro Black Monotone R50. I loved the look but hated my choice. The interior was TOO HOT! The decals on the underside of the visors blistered on MIB Had I went with White or Silver roof the interior would have been much cooler. you want to reflect that heat rather than absorb it.

It didn't happen to me but another AB MINI from the same build week got so hot that the MINI wings on the steering wheel warped and came off.

I have seen the light. "Paddy" my next MINI will have a white or silver roof.

I had to make this choice as well. I love black cars, but in the end went with DS/B. Since the order, I've seen WAY too many DS and only one AB on the street. I wanted to lighten up the MINI a bit because it's supposed to be fun, so I took the DS. I know, I could have lighted up and gone red, blue, yellow or something, but I'm not that fun.

Dark colors on cars look great. Either of these would be awesome. I'd probably go AB if I was ordering again, but I'm going to love my DS.

Yes, lowered on H&R springs.

I do agree Astro Black is actually black with midnight blue metal flake in it. However, I'm a junkie for blue, so I LOVE it.

I spent literally months spec'ing out my mini with the color being the hardest choice. I love the look of black cars. When clean nothing can beat it. I convinced myself that the DS would be more forgiving with my lifestyle and sent the order to the dealer. When I went in to go over everything and enter it into the system at the dealer I couldn't do it. I had to go with the AB. Picked it up Sunday. I LOVE it. I see so few of them around and see so many of the DS in the area. The neighbors up the street have a DS. I had stripes all picked out too. Frost XXL Racing stripes. I had seen them on an AB before and they looked awesome. Subtle, bold, clean. Then CooperFlags told me they are pulling the frost because they take a lot more care and are a little harder to remove over time. Sooooo, if anyone has suggestions for a similar look in stripes, please let me know.

Oh, did I say go with AB? Yeah, go with AB! Unless you live by me, then go with any other color!

Came from an all black hatch (Mazda Protege 5) and decided to switch it up for the Mini and go DS. And no regrets whatsoever, I loooooove the look of my DS/B. And it will look even better with anthracite R99s, a nice change for me from an all black look.

Don't get me wrong AB/AB is smoking hot and I would've gone that route if I hadn't previously had a sexy black wagon, but I am not at all disappointed with DS either. Ultimately you can't go wrong with these two choices.
