R60 Totaled - what to take?
So I think I may have owned this vehicle for the shortest amount of time from dealership lot to getting totaled. I was coming home from the dealer on May 6th and was hit from behind by a Toyota Tundra on the highway just 30 minutes from the lot. It was just deemed totaled by my insurance, so that's that. I need to clean out the vehicle to release it to insurance, and have some questions for the group. My wife wants me to take the wheels and tires since they were replaced with new as part of the purchase. Would the insurance company/body shop allow something like that? Should I bring some cinder blocks to prop the vehicle up and take the wheels? There wasn't much else in the car for personal effects and I hadn't done any customizing to it since I hadn't even gotten home yet. I know this sounds like a bit of a joke, but it's probably ~$1000 worth of wheels and tires involved. Anything I can salvage out of this shitty experience is what I'm looking for.
I only have one data point (thankfully), but when our Clubman was totaled, the insurance company made an adjustment for new tires and some repairs that had just been done the month prior. I doubt they'll let you take the wheels, but I'd explain the situation and see what they recommend.
