R60 2012 R60 Headlight High Beams Not Staying On
2012 R60 Headlight High Beams Not Staying On
Apologies if covered elsewhere, but searching the forum didn’t yield results. A couple days ago I noticed the high beams would not come on at all when pushing the stalk lever. Pulling the lever worked normally, as the high beams come on and the blue high beam indicator also illuminates as long as the lever is held. I’m not sure where to start on this, as goggle and YouTube searches also were not productive.
Wild guess, but sounds like maybe the high beam turn signal lever/switch is going bad? This lever/switch also does the turn signals and I noticed on mine that the right signal switch seems flaky and I have to often push it more than once.
Thats part of the clock spring. One unit. Does not need programmed

I had thought it might be the FRM going, since I had a few codes come up on it, but MINI says that's not the problem. They quoted me 3 hours labour because they said it needed programming.
I don't understand how a switch like this goes after only 225 000kms, and especially how the hazards are also affected since the switch for them is on the top centre of the dash.
Do you think this sounds like the culprit? I sure don't want to spend that kind of money if not.
Thanks.
They would have to try it. These switches dont go bad often but you have to realize some people are hard on this parts like the steering wheel because its always touched. I have seen people knock the stocks off and break them.

Thanks for the reply.
The dealer said their scanning indicated the switch is bad.
I've never abused it and have also never had to replace a clockspring in any vehicle I've owned, including ones with well over 400 000miles.
I'm starting to think that the MINI is not just over-engineered, it's also underbuilt in quality in the electronics.
