String on Gas cap broke

Hi All,
so the string that holds my gas cap to my car broke. The cap still functions and clicks after fueling. Will this cause any problems or can I live without that string

No problem, except losing cap if someone forgets to put it back after fill up. I just epoxied mine together and put some heat shrink wrap over it to make it look a bit better. Or you could buy a new one.

Thank you

Thank you for your reply. My only concern is it would trigger a check engine light or some other light. I hope that’s not the case, but would appreciate any response to this check engine light issue

It is just a lanyard so it has nothing to do with vehicle operation. The cap itself though is a part of the evap system and if the seal on it leaks you will get a CEL. Do you have any CEL?

Yep, if the cap goes bad just replace it and get a new on otherwise try to glue it. We do have some caps on sale right now while they last under OES. Like $16
